a quick note on 816--"prince of space."
on the official guide, a member commented that they believe the 'dog and bear' sketch was possibly a reference to london's "call of the wild." while there are indeed dogs and bears in "call of the wild," snippets of actual narration are taken from faulkner's "the bear," one of the shorts in the novel/collection "go down, moses," to create the sketch. commenting is closed, so i figured i'd make a note here, instead.

What does the "Sleeeep!" riff refer to? I've heard this in a number of eps. Usually it's Joel.

I always took it to be a generalized impersonation of a stage hypnotist.

A "Prince of Space" question that may not be so much an esoteric reference as just a "wait, what?" moment. I even think this has been brought up in the past but I can't find it nor do I remember if the question was ever answered, so here goes.
Early in the movie the boys sneak up to watch the initial "invasion" of Krankor and first appearance of Prince of Space. The boys then say: "What's the matter with you Mickey this might be dangerous?" "I"m not afraid, if you are then go on home"
Servo then comments: "Wait that was two separate ideas". Admittedly this leads to numerous funny random comments from Mike and the bots but I have NEVER understood how that may be two separate ideas because it seemed to make sense to me. Every time I watch this ep it bugs me to no end that maybe I am missing something.
Am I? I ask YOU, fellow faithful MiSTies.
**EDIT** Nevermind, I actually DID find it, got a bit slow here at work and I decided to read this entire thread and lo and behold about 15 pages back...there it is. And its good to know I wasn't the only one.

I think they were just making fun of the way it was dubbed, whoever is speaking makes it sound like those different parts of the sentence don't go together, when actually, they do. It just sounds dumb the way it was said. That's how I always interpreted it, anyway. Because, of course, the kid is just saying to the other kid, go home if you're so scared, ya big sissy.
But, let's face it, the dubbing is terrible.

Yeah it is...but those are some of my favorite episodes. The scene that always sticks in my head as horrifically dubbed is at the beginning of Gamera vs Guiron and the scientist explaining to the press about the radio signal and life on other planets....WOW

So where does "--I think it would go something like this!" (after a character sounds incredulous about something, usually) come from? I just registered for this forum four minutes ago just because, no matter what I do, I can't find the answer to this. I'm embarrassed because I swear I found the answer before, but forgot and can no longer find it. I'm sure it's something obvious. It shows up in a handful of episodes; I seem to recall it in Sinbad and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. In the latter I remember it being said after one of the Martians says "Santa Claus on MARS?!"

Classic old school comedian schtick when he's setting up an impression. "What do you suppose would happen if Groucho Marx got stuck in an elevator with Fred Flintstone? I think it would go...something like this", and he turns around and pretends to transform himself, turns back to the audience, and away we go.
Always good to see this thread get goosed!

What the hell does "panakukan" mean? They say it a few times in Jack Frost. I looked it up and it said that they were fluffy German pancakes. The hell ...?
