I didn't want to start a whole new thread just to pose this question. It really has less to do with the likelihood of Shout! releasing these episodes on DVD. Rather, my question is regarding the status of the masters of the episodes, unreleased on Home Video or not. Does anyone know if Shout! has done proper digital backups of the master tapes? I realize this is likely a silly question, but, it would be nice to know that however unlikely the Susan Hart movies or any of the others will ever see a release, at least they are archived for posterity should the opportunity arise. Jim Mallon had all the episodes digitized when they were in his possession. I think it's very likely Shout has those.

The official YouTube channel has posted clips from 201, 309, 418, and maybe a few of the other unreleased episodes. Additionally, the host segments from all the unreleased episodes were included on the latest Shout! DVD volume. The unreleased shows have definitely been digitized, although I don't know if Shout! went back to the tapes to do new transfers or has used the Mallon transfers Torgo mentioned.

They probably have. Also noticed that Invaders From Mars has been announced for a 4K restoration with no mention of Wade Williams. Considering he was said to own that film in the past, wonder if the rights for Rocketship X-M changed as well.

Probably not, because we can't have nice things.

The fact that he went out of his way to say he “wants the episode to disappear forever,” having absolutely zero clue on how the internet works, has made it clear he’s never going to change his mind on that.

He'll disappear forever long before the episode does.

Considering he was said to own that film in the past, wonder if the rights for Rocketship X-M changed as well. His claim of ownership on Invaders From Mars is just as faulty as his claim of ownership on the Ed Wood films. He "owns" the film elements. Like, physically. Generally when you own film elements you can charge to have them scanned, restored, what have you for new releases. Its not "real" ownership, but that's never stopped Wade. Looks like people got tired of waiting him and his demands out for Invaders, found other physical elements and went around him. Good. As for XM, that's more complicated. He's weaseled his way around it enough that separating him from the film is nigh near impossible. Regardless, it looks like there may be a new release soon of XM with Wade's backing from an outfit called The Film Detective. Can't find much more info than that.

This kind of thing seems to be happening more often, for instance the new 3D release of Robot Monster. People found new film elements and circumvented Wade, who had claimed "ownership" on the film. Serves him right.

Haven't heard of a new XM release, but Film Detective has been releasing titles from Wade like Flight To Mars and Monster From Green Hell so it wouldn't surprise me if they did do a Blu-Ray release.

So is Olive still alive or not? If not, has anyone here reached out to poke Shout to let them know they might want to talk with Paramount?
Seeing as that will be the last ever set to be released realistically.

Has anyone ever commented on the likelihood of Shout putting out Blu-Ray collections of seasons, titled something like "MST3K: The (Almostly) Full Season (insert number here) Collection", to explain why some would be missing and also be the typical tongue in cheek style that they had to do regarding rights issues, IE: the Godzilla / Gilla Monster switcher.
Or are physical releases pretty much dead now and the Gizmoplex being it's death knell?

I’d guess price will prevent earlier near complete seasons. If you figure $10 per movie (based on the 4-disc sets) that would likely price a complete season out of most fans’ price range. Plus, the whole physical media not being that big anymore, and the facts that Blu-ray won’t provide any visual upgrade and the most dedicated physical media fans likely already own the DVDs and it seems like it would have a very narrow target audience.

I could see Shout going the Mill Creek route and perhaps releasing a huge batch of public domain episodes in a set. How many PD films did they riff, anyway?

To be honest, I’m now wondering if it’s a possible case of just Shout no longer showing interest in releasing a volume 40 with the remaining Paramount titles. It’s clear (from the looks of things) Olive doesn’t even have the rights to them anymore and are slowly coming to an end as a company.
