I've only met one. The was the son of a friend of mine. We used to do the "Debbbbbie!" bit whenever we met. It was fun. He's in the army now.

One of my students last semester was a big fan. He got me bunch of episodes I hadn't seen. And yes, he did get an "A" in the class, but did the work to earn it.

It's kind of sad how few of us die-hard fans there really are. The only one I know of personally is the clerk at my local Border's. One time he wasn't there and the other clerk tried to fake being a Misite by telling me, "They have a brand new movie coming out in the theaters!" My heart actually jumped into my throat until I started thinking about it. What a cruel and ignorant Misite joke. I hope you killed him and put his body on a pike in your front yard.

The guy who set up my internet and phone service at my house seems to be a big MSTie, when he was setting up our connection we were watching "The Crawling Hand" and then we went onto Sattelite News... he was awesome and seemed to be a die-hard fan.

I've met quite a few, my age even. I was in a computer lab, wasting time and watching mst3k shorts on youtube when the guy behind me exclaimed, "I haven't seen that show in ages! I LOVE that show!"

I don't mean at a convention or through the the internet. I've never actually met an MST3K fan in real life. I have met several people familiar and I've put people onto MST3K, but I've yet to meet a real life "fan", meaning someone familiar with the entire history of the show, the various characters, plot twists and turns, staple jokes, etc. I can honestly say that I'm in the same boat. My best friend in high school (who subsequently wound up with all of my MST3K tapes, seasons 1 through 6 - don't ask) was the only other person I knew of in my life (in person) that liked MST3K. And he liked it because I got him turned on to it...

Being from Minnesota I've met quite a few actually. The ones I know best are my wife, and her brother and parents! My wife is the one who actually got me back into the show back in 20003 after not having seen it in many years. Been a superfan ever since!

The not-too-not-too-distant future!
A couple of guys I used to hang out with sometimes claim they were loyal fans back in the mid-90s but forgot most of the movies and running gags because they said they always saw the show while drunk or high. Both hated the host segments. I think it's safe to say my dad, who taught me everything I needed to know about black and white, drive-in B-movies throughout my entire life, is a fan, although he only saw The Brain That Wouldn't Die and Are You Ready for Marriage?. He always quotes the "Your girlfriend is using the strudel pan!" and "Shut up! This is man talk!" jokes. He also had crushes on Suzanna Leigh and France Nuyen at my age. Last weekend, I exposed my mother, who has witnessed my evolving MSTiedom since the beginning of the Sci-Fi era, to San Francisco International. She seemed to like the ridiculous, "kid in the plane" subplot. One girl I dated not too long ago was familiar with the MSTing of The Sinister Urge and also knows about Plan 9 From Outer Space, but lost interest in the show when she couldn't keep up with the constantly changing cable timeslots. My brother who is in the Air Force seemed to like a copy of The Starfighters that I sent him. He finds the movie Roadhouse funny, if that's any connection to MSTdom (I find the "Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas" thing rather corny, but that's just my humble opinion). A guy who works across the alley from my office is an auto body shop owner who in his spare time works on bikes, including sidehacks/sidecars once in a blue moon in the Riverside area (where the "sport" was shown in the film and popular in that region to this day), but I never took the effort to introduce him to the show

I have to admit that I don't meet too many nowadays, but I just met one last week...
I was at a friend's house, and she introduced me to a friend of hers. He was a funny guy and we hit it off immediately. Later, he was cooking some potatoes, and I said, in the Crow "Trumpy" voice, "Oooh, these potatoes look so good" (not expecting anyone in the room to know what I was talking about), and he fired back in the same voice, "This potato's got big ears", and I cracked up.
..and a new friendship was truly born.

Of all the people I've talked to about MST3K, outside arenas like this board, probably 90 percent of them were introduced to the show by me. Of those, I know three who can sit down and really get into a viewing and enjoy the whole experience.
I roomed with a guy once who had seen the show enough to know he preferred one host over the other, and we had some good laughs watching my old tapes. I also got comments from a Best Buy checkout girl when I bought Vol. 10 a few months back. Those are the only two people I can think of that referenced MST3K without me bringing it up.
I may not realize I'm in the presence of another Mstie because I don't necessarily bring it up. There are probably more out there than I realize.
