Much obliged!
I just found out that I've been approved for a director account at YouTube, so I won't have to cut down my videos anymore. I can even tackle features if I feel so inclined...

Finally got a chance to check out your work, Mr. Way, and I must say, primo stuff all the way.
BTW, is it me, or does Sue from "How to be Well Groomed" look exactly like Kay from the MST-ed short "What to Do on a Date"?

Could be! I've spotted a few crossover actors from MST shorts. For example, I just did a short called A Touch of Magic with Tad Tadlock, who also "starred" in Design for Dreaming. Anyway, thanks for watching. Stay tuned - more to come!

What kind of equipment are you using to do these shorts, BTW?

I do everything in Sony Vegas, recording my voice with a cheap headset mic (which I should upgrade because the sound can be a bit too harsh), and exporting two versions: mp4 for YouTube and mpeg2 for DVD.

Here are the three latest shorts: A Touch of MagicThis one is basically Design For Dreaming II: The Reckoning. It even has the same star (Tad Tadlock, woman of the future) and features lots of GM cars. The Powers of CongressIn the grand tradition of 50s shorts about dumb guys who wish important stuff didn't exist, here comes "Powers of Congress." In the Coily role is a very upsetting man who likes to gad about. What About Drinking? At a party a group of teeners discuss whether or not it's evil to drink alcohol. Notable for some of the worst acting ever, even for one of these "advice for living" shorts. This week I'll post one more, at which point I'll have enough to fill a second DVD volume, then I'll be taking a break. I need to catch my breath, work on some other things, and figure out what I'm going to do with this series. If YouTube ever gets around to activating my Director Account, I think I'm going to do a feature-length commentary for this little gem:

I'm having trouble with the volume on "How Do You Know It's Love?" (isn't that by the same UNC guy who did the MST-ed short "Are You Ready For Marriage?"?) I've turned the volume up all the way, and I can barely hear it.
BTW, I'm pretty sure the dorky brother from "Are You Well Groomed?" says "trouser cuffs", but the nonsensical "Chausaka" is much funnier. I think that bit would have made a great stinger, so I've made it my tagline.
(Also, the links for "On Guard!" (rare short title with an explination point instead of a question mark) and "What About School Spirit?" aren't working for me.)

I've turned the volume up all the way, and I can barely hear it. Hmm. The sound of the short is a bit low and my voice is too loud, if that's what you mean. It's that way on a few of them. But in general this one's not much quieter than the others. BTW, I'm pretty sure the dorky brother from "Are You Well Groomed?" says "trouser cuffs", but the nonsensical "Chausaka" is much funnier. I think that bit would have made a great stinger, so I've made it my tagline. Yeah, I think you're right. But it really sounds like nonsense, and he says it so oddly, like an incantation or something. In my heart, it will always be Chausaka. (Also, the links for "On Guard!" (rare short title with an explination point instead of a question mark) and "What About School Spirit?" aren't working for me.) I just tried them and they worked for me. As always, thanks for watching!

The Wasp Woman! Is that the one I've heard people on this board mention before, that had whatsherface who played Inger the Dark (my favourite Viking Woman) in the title role and was evidently a real _pain_, literally, to film in that short of an amount of time? If so, I am looking foward to seeing it. Another Roger Corman masterpiece! :P
Boy, do I have to check back in on your website more often, Joshway. There were TONS of shorts I hadn't seen yet when I went back there recently--not that that's a _bad_ thing. Oh my heck, you SO had to do "A Touch of Magic". Not only for itself, but because of its EXTREME MST3Kness out the yin-yang. The fact that it is _exactly_ in feel like "Design for Dreaming", has the same on-screen actors (Nuveena and Tuxedo Mask, as I call the guy--'cos that's how he was dressed in "Design for Dreaming") and the same singers, and is so incredibly _bizzarre_ and wrong...and, of course, also advertises the fantastical dreamworld WONderfulness of Chevrolets! (snicker)
I kind of agree with one thing that was said in "Classroom Discipline", though--the line about how mass punishment rarely works and is never a good idea. A-freaking-men. I always HATED when teachers would make the _whole_ class stay after for something that just _one_ person did wrong. It's bloody unfair, and doesn't make me want to behave more--just makes me hate the teacher.
Anyhoo. Brilliant stuff still, of course, brilliant! Shame I won't be able to see the commentary on Wasp Woman, though, 'cos it probably won't be on YouTube. Ah, well.

Too bad it was so goofy and boring while doing it! Glad you enjoyed the shorts. Yes - Touch of Magic was a no brainer. It's like Design for Dreaming Part II. I've just about given up on YouTube, but there are other ways to get video online. Wasp Woman is PD, so I should be able to post it on Google Video (which, by the time I'm done with the movie, will BE YouTube).

Whoo-hoo!
My main problem with YouTube--and it'll probably still be there with Google video--remains, though: that you can't _download_ anything. I mean, there are lots of things on YouTube I'd like to keep and look at again even AFTER the person who made it erases their account, or loses interest, or the video gets taken down for breaking some obscure rule, or the whole site no longer exists...a bookmark isn't enough. A bookmark takes you back to something _on the Internet_; when it ceases to exist on the Internet you won't be able to see it ever again. I sure wish there was some way to grab and capture and _keep_ my favourite YouTube type things on my own computer in my own home.
But I read all through their FAQs and found nothing at all even mentioning downloading, only viewing. And I'm not even a fan of streaming video in the first place, what with the not loading all the way before it starts playing and whatnot.
Sigh...
