So, is the indicative like what we are saying right now, in the present, like "I shall call." or "I am calling." or "I call."? And so if the indicative is like that, the subjunctive is "I shall have been called."? Or is that like passive and active? Man, I am confused.

Indicictive is what we are speaking now, all tenses. Subjunctive is a softened command, like "Let him eat pie."

And so if the indicative is like that, the subjunctive is "I shall have been called."? Or is that like passive and active? Man, I am confused. Indicative mood means the verb happens actually, whether in the present, past or future. Sunjunctive mood means the verb can be possible, conditional or deponent instead of actual. Wishes and jussive commands also fall into this mood. The key is to recognize that a subjunctive verb has not happened in reality, but it could. Active voice means the subject performs the verb on the direct (or indirect object in some cases). Passive voice means that the subject is acted upon by the verb. Future perfect is indicative active or passive only, it doesn't exist in the subjunctive. I means "I shall have...whatever" Any questions?

It was only three paragraphs. I finished in 30 minutes. I know I got above a 90 on the other two parts. This is gonna bring down my 99 average for the other 4 quarters.

Was the test on translating sections of ancient authors, or just book material made up by the book author? 99 average? Well, I'll try to hold back my tears. ;D

Well, I'll try to hold back my tears. ;D It was a story about Mago and the Punic wars. All I did for the 9 average was get above a 97 on every test and do huge amounts of extra credit translations. My average was really 99.8 but my teacher won't round up because the ancients wouldn't know about decimals. I did get a 100% on the profiecncy exam, which counts as a quarter.

So what's next in the realm of Latin? You're in high school, right? Or college? What year are you?

Just wait til you get to the authors. The teachers usually center the whole term on translating a work. If you get any I've already done, let me know. I've done Virgil: Aeneid, Plautus: Menaechmi, Terence: Andria, Tactitus: Dialogus de Oratoribus, Juvenal: Satires, Pliny the Younger: Selected Letters, Suetonius: Divus Claudius, Catullus: Love Poetry, Ovid: Heroides.
And eventually you'll have to take Greek as a companion to Latin, and I've done these authors: Euripides: Helen, Homer: Odyssey, Plato: Republic, Aristotle: Poetics, Sophocles: Oedipus Rex.
