I just checked and it looks like tickets for the show at the State Theater aren't available yet. I haven't been there since I saw CT riff on "Blood of the Vampires". Any word on when they'll be selling?

Well, guess what? My sense of timing failed me again and I'm posting about week 456 when it's almost over. I'm getting into a rut with this, I think. Well, anyway, for what's left here are the selections. For the off-rotation Outsider, we have... "The Mary Jo Pehl Show Clubhouse Bonus: Chit Chat & Tid Bits"... - That's live on-line tonight, for those of us with super exclusive access. ... while the on-rotation Outsider is... "RT Live: House on Haunted Hill"... - I'll make sure the guns & booze are ready for the show. ... while the Originals selection is... "Carnival Magic" (Show 1112). - Lousy movie, but MARK HAMILL guest-stars!
Don't touch that dial...

Sorry to be abrupt, but I'm posting from work again and I've got to get back to my desk. In any case, here are the selections for week 455. The off-rotation Outsider is... "The Mary Jo Pehl Show: The Mary Jo Pehl Show Dollar Store Challenge"... - Family Dollar? Dollar General? Dollar Tree? Which one? We'll find out live on-line tonight. ... while the on-rotation Outsider is... "RT: Shorts-a-Poppin" (2nd half)... - And what will they try and teach me this time? ... while the Originals selection is... "MST3K Promos". - That's exactly what they are. It's a disc I got from Cheepnis a while back.
Please stand by...

Well, first of all, let's look back at week 453...
"Mutiny in Outer Space" should not be confused with "Space Mutiny". It's worse. Yes, the later movie is lousy, but it has action and can be fun, at times. The earlier movie is a slog. You've got a space station crewed with people who are constantly withholding info from the other four people on-board so as not to cause a panic. You've got a captain deeply into SPACE MADNESS who, nonetheless, is left in charge and whose orders are never questioned. You've got a crisis half the crew doesn't believe is happening, even when a quick peek into one room will prove it. And there's more where that came from. The overwhelming stupidity of these people just got to be too much. On the other hand, Trace & Frank's riffing was great. And the post-movie Q&A with Kim "Howard" Johnson, author of several books on Python, was very interesting.
As for the RT MST3K Reunion, it was very good. It featured Mike, Kevin & Bill; Bridget & MJ, the Mads, and Joel & Jonah all getting a chance to riff in individual groups, as well as all together for two shorts. I couldn't be there in Minneapolis in person, but I did see it via Fathom Events and it's very funny. I watched this on DVD so I could also enjoy the pre-show slides, which are always great.
And as for "Killer Fish", you've got an overly complicated gem robbery, followed by the attempt to recover the goods from a lake which, it seems, is now infested with piranha fish. That's about all I can say right now because this movie was confusing. I figure it's due to the way it was edited for the show. In any case, I lost track of how many double-, triple- and quadruple-crosses there were. Characters merely glimpsed turn out to have a big importance later on, with no real foreshadowing. I'll have to try and track this down unriffed. Still, James Franciscus was very cool as the criminal mastermind. This was part five of The Gauntlet, and it turned out pretty well. The riffing was good, though with some pacing problems that were common in the Netflix era. The host segments were OK, and the "Under the Dam" song was very good, particularly as presented during a theater segment.
So, I actually got to do a recap. Now, let's move on to week 454. The off-rotation Outsider is... "Movie Jo Night: 'Killer Bees'"... - That's live on-line tonight. Is the Bowler-Hatted Guy in this one, too? ... and another off-rotation Outsider is... "Rifftrax Goes to Golden Corral"... - I just got this as a Kickstarter perk, and I just have to see if the place justifies the jokes. ... while the Originals selection is... "Beast of Yucca Flats" (Show 621). - Which flag is on the moon, anyway?
We'll be right back...

I got a disc of promos a while back from Cheepnis. I'll have to check if it's the one you mean.

On reflection, I now almost wish they had given "Space Mutiny" another try. Last night's movie was lousy. I can only assume that there was an undetected atmosphere leak in the space station. That's the only explanation I can come up with for how utterly dim the crew was.

I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed when I first saw the title of tonight's movie, since it'd been riffed twice before and how many new names can you come up with for Dave Ryder. Then, I saw that it was "Mutiny in Outer Space", which I don't think I'd ever seen or even heard of before. I'm interested in how this'll turn out.

OK, I'm really late, but there's a legit excuse this time. I had a few health issues last week, that threw me seriously off-track. So, in order to keep myself belatedly back on-track, I'm combining weeks 452 & 453. I hope this isn't a problem, to anyone else keeping track. Anyway, for 452, both Outsiders are on-rotation. The first selection is... "Freaks & Geeks: Discos & Dragons"... - Now playing, following a slight delay. ... while the second selection is... "Movie Sign with the Mads: 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World'"... - You'll find it playing under a Big W. ... while the Originals selection is... "The Mole People (Show 803)". - With John "Smug" Agar, Beaver's dad, Alfred the butler, and The Load.
Now, for week 453, the off-rotation Outsider is... "The Mads are Back LIVE: 'Mutiny in Outer Space'"... - NOT featuring Hunk BeefSteak or Captain Santa, it's playing live on-line tonight. ... while the on-rotation Outsider is... "Rifftrax Live: MST3K Reunion Show"... - As I recall, it went much better than my high school reunion. ... and the Originals selection is... "Killer Fish" (Show 1205). - What do you use for bait for them?
Stay tuned...

Hold it! HOLD IT! HOOOOOLD IT!!!
I just checked my e-mail, and it turns out there's an off-rotation Outsider event tonight that I forgot about. (Me? Forgetful? Surely, you jest!) Anyway, I'm putting "Freaks & Geeks" on the back burner for now, so that we can go with... "Mary Jo Pehl Show Clubhouse: Chit-Chat & Tid-Bits"... - That's live on-line tonight at 8:00, but I'll be out, so I'll catch it on tape delay.
We now return to our regularly scheduled program...

(Insert lame excuse for being late here.) And here are the selections for what's left of week (Fahrenheit) 451. The first on-rotation Outsider is... "RT: The Guy from Harlem"... - I've got TWO reasons for posting this! ... and the second on-rotation Outsider is..."Freaks & Geeks: Discos & Dragons"... - Featuring Joel and (briefly) Trace. ... while the Originals selection is... "Clowns in the Sky". - That's the CD of volume 1. Even if I had the LP, my turntable is in storage at my Ancestral Home.
Enjoy!

Well, I'm at work, but I have a few moments to post the selections for week 450. And, if I can get myself really rolling, I can review what's been happening over the last few weeks. (Well, it's a possibility, right?) Anyway, this week's off-rotation Outsider is... "Mary Jo Pehl Show: The Mary Jo Pehl Show Short Film Festival 2024"... - And we don't have to go to France or Colorado for it! ... while the on-rotation Outsider is... "MST3K: The Home Game (4 PM Showing)"... - From just before the show started on TSNWSRN. ... and the Originals selection is... "Rocketship X-M" (Show 201). - Hi, Frank! Hi, Tom's new voice! Hi, new opening titles!
Don't touch that dial...

For those who watched "Death Sentence", did that last scene in the bedroom give anyone else "Padme meets Ani on Mustafar" vibes? I agree with MJ & Chris that this was a good one, with a pre-"Rich Man, Poor Man" Nick Nolte giving a good, low key performance.

I tried to post this earlier, but I got a message that the page wasn't working. Well, it seems to be working now, and I cleared away the current layer of snow & ice, so here's what we've got for week 449. The off-rotation Outsider is... "Movie Jo Night: 'Death Sentence'"... - That's live on-line tonight. Starring Cloris Leachman and frequent RT subject Nick Nolte. ... and the on-rotation Outsider is... "RT: Starship Troopers"... - Yes, I suppose I want to know more. ... while the Originals selection is... "12 to the Moon" (Show 524). - With special guest star, the incomparable Nuveena!
We'll be right back...

Speaking of previously used, it looks like The Mads will be doing A Case of Spring Fever during this. That was from the Mike/Kevin/Bill era, so I will be interested to hear their fresh take. Since it's also been done by MST3K and RT, "Case of Spring Fever" now joins the exclusive Three-Peat Club. I'll have to sit down and figure out just how many movies & shorts have achieved that status.

kmorgan, you're still at it, eh? That's integrity and most certainly deserving of notice. But I see you didn't mention Mikey. You're going to make the boy cry! He's only 83! Well, if Mikey hasn't gained emotional maturity by now, then I can't help him. And thank you for the compliment; I appreciate it.
Moving on to week 448, here are the selections. The off-rotation Outsider is... "The Mads are Back LIVE: Night of Shorts 14"... - That's live on-line tonight, and I'll be watching, assuming the storm doesn't cut off my 'net connection. Or theirs, for that matter. ... and the on-rotation Outsider is... "The Film Crew: 'Killers from Space'"... - Starring Peter "University of Minnesota" Graves. ... and the Originals selection is... "Mitchell" (Show 512). - Hello, Mitchell! And auf Wiedersehen, Joel!
Hope the basement stays dry...
