Since I have a feeling that this will be an hot topic in the upcoming weeks and months, but as not to multiple threads going here, in General Chat, and Mitchell's movies. Any new news, opinions, questions comments, or theroys, please post in this thread. If you want to make a passing mention of parts: the clonus horrorand The Island in another thread, not on the subject in particular, that's fine. Also, please continue to discuss the episode parts: the clonus horror in General Chat. Thank You- VH"Clonus" director seeks injunctionFrom MST3Kinfo.com... The Seatle Times reports that after viewing the new movie "The Island," Robert S. Fiveson, director of "Parts: The Clonus Horror" (seen in episode 811) is speaking to lawyers about the possibility of getting a federal injunction to stop the movie's distribution. Says Fiveson: "I went in hoping and praying that it was enough different than 'Clonus' so that I could just put my mind at rest and move on, but I can't. Because astonishingly enough, it not only seems to rest on the very skeleton of the film, ... there were enough (similarities) in the movie in the first third that I thought this cannot be happenstance or casual." The article also makes a passing mention of MST3K. You can read it in its entirety at: seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/movies/2002394690_islandripoff.htmlI for one hope he gets $1,000,000 at least.

Thanks, well, the mst3kinfo.com and Seattle Times article are new, this is the Deep 13 News, and people might want to discuss (or not). As I said, I hope Robert Fiveson gets a buck or two. He needs to finance the "Parts" sequel.

The article you posted is very informative and offers more for discussion that the previous thread did.

I'm with Mr. Fiveson on this. I got the email from SN sometime today and was glad to hear that he isn't going to sit by and get screwed.

Fiverson at least deserves a cut or something, if the movies are as similar as all that.

The Agony Booth actually did an interview with Robert S. Fiveson. He's not all that bad a guy and he explained some of the weird crappiness of Parts... (actually, he wanted to simply name it Clonus, but the distributor disagreed)
Albeit, he doesn't explain why we needed to see that guy's batch. Ewww...

I hope the distribution will stop! Could you imagine the look on Michael Bay's face. Yeah like that's gonna happen. -c

Even though I thought he was a completely incompetent director after seeing parts, I have to side with Son Of Five. I also find it hilarious that they have a hack director like Michael Bay directing a ripoff of a film that was a hackjob in the first place. Seems very ironic to me! The whole clone of a clone movie thing is as well ;D

I noticed once they first started showing previews of The Island, the commercials focused alot on the "human clones", basically the whole story of Parts: TCH. Once all this lawsuit talk arised, I noticed they changed the commercials to focus more on Scarlet Johansen and explosions.

Did Fiveson in the interview say what he thought of MST3K? No, but considering the Agony Booth really made fun of his movie, he seemed to be the sort of guy who could handle good-natured ribbing on it and even seemed to acknowledge that his movie wasn't that good. Here's the actual interview: www.roguecinema.com/article-327--0-0.html
