Yes. On Satellite News, their Rhino source said that they hoped the set would return soon, so maybe it's only temporary.
Interestingly enough, volumes 1 and 3 are still on the Rhino site. Has anyone tried ordering them through Rhino? It seems odd that they'd take 9 off and yet still keep those two sets on there.

Maybe there's just a guy at Rhino screwing with us? "Hey Jim, wanna watch the misties go into panic and fear? Try this."

Maybe there's just a guy at Rhino screwing with us? "Hey Jim, wanna watch the misties go into panic and fear? Try this." More likely-let's watch the suckers go into buying frenzy. I've seen it happen before. I'm a member of the Steve Hoffman forums, www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/, which is a music loving community. If you buy a Steve Hoffman-mastered music release, you're buying quality. The DCC Gold CDs he worked on, like Jethro Tull- "Aqualung", go for mega bucks on ebay. Anyway, a couple of years back there was a release of The Beatles "Ed Sullivan Show" appearance on DVD. Someone on the Hoffman forums posted that Apple Corps would be withdrawing the rights and that set would be taken off the shelves. That info spurred a buying frenzy, as a Beatles fan I fell for it, and you can go to WalMart tonight and pick up that very set. But, hey, I don't take chance when the Beatles, or MST3K, are involved.

It says not in stock on deepdiscount for volume 9. If past experience tells me anything, that means they won't ever be sending it if I pay for it, as they're not going to get any more out of print items into stock.

Yeah, I've noticed that, with MST3K, DeepDiscount (the DVD in the title has been dropped) doesn't usually get them back in stock once they've sold out. Batwoman's been absent for months, as well as another episode or two, I think.

so...why did it allow me to purchase it if there aren't any in stock? I'm confused. I don't usually buy things online

Websites like DeepDiscount don't always delineate between something being out of stock but still in print (with more on the way), and something being out of stock and out of print (with no more coming). Thus, it will let you order something out of stock, even if no more are going to be coming in.
Online stores usually stop the ability to order something if it's out of print, but OOP items will sometimes slip through.
You won't be charged for anything unless it actually ships; you'll just have an open order until it either comes back in print, or if DeepDiscount notices it's OOP and cancels the order.

When did you order it from DDD? They usually won't let you order it if they really don't have it in stock. They usually quickly disallow you from placing something that's OOP in your cart, even if the listing itself is still on the site. You may still get something in the mail from what they already had in stock, but I would call their customer service phone # as they are slow to serve when it comes to e-mail and slow to notify you when something is permanently out of stock. And time is definitely of the essence here if you still want a reasonable deal on this box set.
As an aside, the Borders in midtown Omaha this past Christmas had one copy of every MST3K collection 1-10, except for 5 and 10... there were TWO of each of those (I picked up a copy of 10 luckily). I went there to see if they still had 9 and they are down to just one copy of volume 2 and 5. These puppies are getting hard to come by. They really will be collector's items. I need to pick up 9 while I still can...

As I figured, Deep Discount canceled my Vol. 9 order this morning.
