I was just talking about Mosters that had an actual career before their vs. movie. Something that Hedorah (aka the Smog Monster), Ebirah (aka the Sea Monster), Mechagodzilla (aka the Cosmic Monster), Megalon, Ghidorah (aka Monster Zero), Barugon, Gaos, Guiron, and Zigra never had before their matchups.

You DID start it.
And THEN you jumped up my butt.
I just gave you a formal invitation, after the fact.
The thread doesn't lie.

There now. I think we've timed out enough. Now let's put all this ugliness behind us.
Now let's get back on the off-topic Alien vs. Predator. I just watched Predator 2 again tonight. While not as great as the original, it was still a fun film. A little dumb, but it held its own. All I can say is bring on AVP.
Here's a thought. How about puting in an "In Memory Of" credit on AVP for Kevin Peter Hall. I know he died 13 years ago, but it would be a nice gesture.

AvP teaser trailer and little snippit with the director is at www.apple.com/trailers/hopefully that's right. looks promising. I've read several AvP scripts floating around... none have dissapointed. As for Freddy vs. Jason... I saw it in the theater. And, as a simpleminded, egoless, over simplified normal person, I was floored. I loved it in the theater. It was brilliantly executed, and it kept the mythos of BOTH characters in line. A movie like this shouldn't be subjected to an insightful and meaningful review. It's eye candy... it's evil fun... it's pure and unadulterated hack-n-slasher "my machette is bigger than your ...." bliss! It's a movie that isn't made to be taken seriously. Much like the Friday the 13th flicks and the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. To go into a movie and expect to review it without seeing the origional films that lead up to this dramatic confrontation is kinda like baking a pie, THEN inserting the apples. No filling on a dried up crust. Freddy vs. Jason was meant to be made. They've both got the same killing style, campy teens make good hamburger, and they just ooze personality. EG: Jason holding up his hand, looking at the fingers Freddy just lopped off. Another : Freddy's pelvic thrusts as he pinballs Jason all over the boiler room. The way they tied in Elm St to Crystal Lake... the way they put Freddy into Jason's dreamscape... Both fight scenes were, dare I say, elegantly... done. Both timelines were bound to cross anyway. They're "present day" supernatural killers. Again, the M.O. is the same, revenge. Ok, i'm rambling. Bottom line, if you go into a theater with preconcieved notions and no basis for those notions (such as WATCHING the older flicks), then woosh, it's already a bad movie. You might as well walk out and tell everyone it's bad, cause you already think it's bad, and the previews aren't even over. As for the horrible CG of the chicks boyfriend... it's obvoius they didn't clean up the editing and computer effects before they dropped it. they cleaned it enough to add it to the DVD, for bonus effect. I give the flick an A-. And that's a minus because I read some of the other alternative scripts, and a lot of it could have been added... But, like the woman said, nobody's gonna wanna sit there and watch a LOTR epic length monster movie, even a diehard fan like me. Peace out guys!
