Welcome to the MST3K Discussion Board! While you are here, we ask you to please follow the below mentioned rules. Failure to comply with the MST3K Discussion Board Terms of Service will result in your account being penalized, banned or suspended depending on the severity of the violation and the discretion of the board staff.
[glow=yellow,3,000]The Golden Rule[/glow]
– If it was okay for the show it’s okay for the board. This applies to language and general tone.
1. Do not post content promoting the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, “spam”, fraud, racism, mlm, (Multi Level Marketing) pyramid schemes, or any illegal activity. This is taken directly from the Proboards TOS.
This board has a language filter which censors certain words. If you bypass this filter by replacing a letter with an * or another symbol the staff will still consider this as profanity and you will be subject to disciplinary action. Please keep in mind that this is a family board and remember the Golden Rule.
2. Do not hotlink pictures directly from other sites.
3. No flaming/trolling. Be respectful of your fellow board members even if you don’t necessarily agree with them. It’s ok to express a different opinion than someone else, but if you can’t do it in a respectful way your account will be banned. We don't moderate opinions, but we do moderate tone.
4. Do not flood the board with multiple threads. We don't want to set a magic number but around two threads per day or no more than five per week in any one board is a general guideline. This is not meant to limit anyone but more intended to keep active threads from getting bumped. We (The Staff) reserve the right to evaluate excessive starting of threads on a case by case basis.
5. No “Leet-speak”, AOL-speak or IM-speak. Lrn 2 3nglish plz! While we don’t expect everyone to be English majors we do expect you to make an effort to type in a coherent manner that can be easily read and understood by all. Proper capitalization, spelling and punctuation count on this board.
6. No one-word or otherwise non-functional posts that add nothing to a thread. If you do not have anything relevant to say regarding the topic please do not post in it. For example, don't just say "I agree." Explain why you agree. Don't just say "Oh." Think of a joke or something. Be creative, people! Low-content posts waste space, bandwidth, and readers' time. Remember: post counts don't matter! If the staff suspects that you are simply posting nonsense in an attempt to inflate your post count your post counter will be reset to zero.
7. Do not use this forum as your own personal store front. Links to goods for sale (such as ebay auctions) will be deleted, as we have no way of verifying whether or not you are connected to the sale.
8. Posts should have the goal of furthering the community's interests. Other than Sloane (which is designed for witty spam) or Lycanthrope's Links (which is designed for promoting external sites) posts should generally be made to further the interests of the community and community discussions. Posts which, in the collective determination of the staff, are made primarily to generate interest in other sites, or which promote extremely remote topics well outside the general interests of the community will be deemed advertising or flooding and removed unless they generate discussion along the subject.
Addendum, June 27, 2011. With the addition of spoiler tags (relevant announcement here), we ask you to be considerate in their use when discussing sensitive information, for example plot points that might ruin the story or ending of films, books, and television shows.
Finally, we ask you to please acquaint yourself with this post on basic internet message board etiquette before participating on our forums.
For a very basic summary of these rules, please see this video.
Thank you for your compliance with these rules. We hope that your stay with us is a fun one!
Sincerely,
The MST3K Discussion Board Staff
