Glad to see good things about it here, not that it would really alter whether I'll see it or not. But when I get psyched for a movie I like to hear good things about it. Now to just see it...

The wife and I went and saw it tonight and I was VERY impressed. I can't believe I'm saying this but I really do think it's the best Batman movie out of all of them (Yes, even the first Tim Burton film) and may very well be the best film I've seen this year giving "Sin City" a run for its money. The funny thing is I didn't plan on seeing this at all because after how lame the last two Batman films I was ready to give up on them for good. Christopher Nolan outdid himself with this one. It was dark, and actually had some elements of a horror film which shocked me. There are actually a few parts that were scary! When was the last scary moment in any of the previous Batman films? I thought so, there weren't any. I thought Bale did one hell of a job, and this is coming from somone who thought he would NEVER be able to pull it off when I first heard about him taking on the role. I thought this movie was fantastic and from the way the movie ended I'm anxiously awaiting a sequel. We can only hope it will be as well done as this film was. A+

Wow! Just... Wow! They nailed it. The Burton films look like goofy pretenders compared to this masterpiece. What I mean is, the other were nice Tim Burton films that happen to have a guy in a bat costume in it.
But this flick, this is Batman. It's serious, dark, Batman is no nonsense grim and single minded. Every character is fully realised and add to the point of the story and the growth of the Batman legend.
Great, great, great movie. I am soooo freaking happy that they finaly 'got' this character right in a live action film. I'm almost giddy!
Ebert is right. Spider Man 2 got that character absolutely 100% right and now this movie does the same for Batman. PEFECT!

I loved it. I would say more, but everyone's already said what I was going to.

I just hope for the next one they can nail down a good Joker. I'm nervous that they are just going to have an annoying Joker. It's hard to get a good Joker because the guy has to be goofy but also psychotic.

It's going to be hard for whoever takes the role to top Nicholson, but I wonder if Steve Buscemi would work for the part? Hmmm....

It's hard to get a good Joker because the guy has to be goofy but also psychotic. If they keep with the comics, like they do in Begins, they'll have him evolve from the Red Hood, to the Joker, and do a ton of psychotic acts. Remember, in the comics, this is the guy who beat the second Robin to death with a crowbar and shot Barbara Gordon while taking pornographic pictures of her, WHILE Jim Gordon was bound and forced to watch. Now that's a damn sicko. Servo

I always thought that was the one dent in batmans "No Kill" policy.
For years the Joker has shown he can't be redeemed. In an issue with the Specter, the Specter couldn't work his whammy on Joker because the Joker had no conscious. He wont be anything but a cancer on society who'll continue his sick ways until he dies. The only reason he's around is that he sells comics.
In reality the Huntress would have just popped him and said, "There, I just saved a lot of people from a lot of suffering and death". (Course, now there softening her up of late, She's not as mercenary)
As far as an actor, how about Crispen Glover? He can do deviant.

Nah. The Joker's just good at escaping. He can slip in and out of his cell at Arkham with no problem at all, usually to kill another inmate so that he can talk to Batman for a while. And while there's no way you could get him for the next movie, I remain convinced that only Mark Hamill has ever been able to do justice to the Joker's character (I swear, he's hilarious and scary at the same time if you catch the right performances).
I'd love to shower this film with all kinds of praise, though that's been done to death. I think this replaces the original "Batman" by Tim Burton as my favorite (narrowly....and that's mainly because I enjoy the line "You....are my number one....guy!")
I will say that I was surprised at some of the characters who would appear. I was already psyched about getting to see both Ras Al Ghul and The Scarecrow in the same film...but then they included Zsasz (though he was just a mob hitman and not the psycopathic killer), Lucius Fox, and Carmine "The Roman" Falcone (the movies followed the comics by having The Roman be the last real mobster before the "Freaks" start showing up).
I'm just glad that we've finally got a movie Batman who isn't just The Punisher with a lot of fancy gadgets. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

My quick review! (Yay!)
This was my first Batman movie I'd ever seen. (Yes, I know, that's pathetic.) It was good, but it wasn't what I expected. When you think of Batman, you think "Whoosh! Pow! Uber-action movie!" And then you see this, with Batman getting all psychological(-ish) on you and it's a bit of a shock. You shouldn't watch this when you don't feel like rummaging through emotional problems. And I thought it was kinda too long. I thought the climax was when Batman was saving Katie Holmes character. But then they bring you to this whole other step in the plot. I was restless and yearned for tuna sushi. (As I did while watching Shark Tale.)
But all bias aside, it was still a pretty good movie. Sorry for possibly confusing you.
