Some damn fine movies on that list and great performances by De Niro. I go with Raging Bull. Two scenes really stand out in the movie, one is the sublime home movie montage in the middle of the movie, the other is De Niro breaking down after getting thrown in jail, viciously punching the wall over and over again. Powerful stuff.

You posed a pretty tough question there guy. I so badly wanted to vote for Goodfellas just because it is my all-time favorite movie but I can't do that. De Niro's performance in Raging Bull just cannot be overlooked no matter how hard I try. It was a brilliant acting performance that just cannot be denied.
He was great in ALL of the other movies in the poll, but Raging Bull gets my vote and I'm sure most of the rest of the board as well. By the way I got the Raging Bull special edition a few months ago and it's excellent. Definitely worth the $20.

"Goodfellas," though "Raging Bull" and "Mean Streets" are amazing, too.

I disagree with those who claim Raging bull is their masterpiece.
Taxi Driver is by far the best of all S's films as well.....

Rebane and Hale, like Scorcese and DeNiro.

If this poll is simply the best FILM they did together, then I would pick it. I only chose Raging Bull because of the fact that this was De Niro's best acting performance I've seen him do with Marty, even though Goodfellas is a better film in my opinion.

I think everyone is voting for Goodfellas just on the movie, not on his performance, cause, he wasn't really the focus of Goodfellas, he was a second tier part. Now, Casino, that's classic. And, yeah, Taxi Driver is good, but, it's a little TOO much about DeNiro.

i can't believe no one voted for THE KING OF COMEDY except me! that is my FAVOURITE deniro role ever-- and socrsese also did an excellent job with the film as well. it was a breakaway script for both artists. even though GOODFELLAS is one of my favourite films of all time, i think deniro did such a fantastic job in the role of rupert pupkin. it really began to show his range as an actor. this was the first film (i think) where he played such an all out, passive-aggressive loser. you're not sure whether you love the guy, pity him, or just want to slap some sense into him. this was the only film where i could watch him and not think he was some type-casted italian mobster.

I agree with Mrs. dASH (zesty!). It was a huge break-away role not only for DeNiro but for Jerry Lewis as well. He was phenominal as a role where he pretty much played himself. I love that movie. While Mean Streets is about the most realisticly street-gritty movie I've seen, it's not one I consider a Scorcese-DeNiro movie. But a milestone one for their future collaboration. Taxi Driver is probably the best, technically. But it's such a downer too. I mean there's the rescue of the girl but it's an uplifting piece in a dark dark story. I love it but it's too dark to be my favorite collaboration.
