Jeez, first Scotty from Star Trek and now Gilligan. All my childhood icons are going away. Damn. If you live long enough, everyone from your childhood will go away. Not unless you beat them to it!

Loved "Gilligan" when I was a kid. He had a great cameo on "The Simpsons," too, as himself. Also remember him being very funny playing a kid's father on a bad TV movie called "High School U.S.A." He will be missed.

I'm old enough to remember the first run of the Dobie Gillis Show and Gilligan's Island. Bob's Maynard G Krebs character was my first media idol. I had a big ball of tin foil (I admit it.) and parroted his frightened "work" squeek (Maynard was allergic to work and I am too.) I drove my mother crazy with trying to mimic his antics. I even was forbidden to watch the show for a while because I was so obsessed with the character.
I loved Gilligan's Island as well. My favorite episode was the Russian Cosmonaut episode.
So long Bob. R.I.P.

A class act all the way. Never bitter, always positive. ...a little bit of trivia regarding the GI theme song: Before the start of the second season, Bob refused to sign unless "..and the rest" was changed to include Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells. Like I said, a class act. Bon Voyage, Bob.
