LOS ANGELES (AP) - Adam Sandler will star in a remake of the 1974 Burt Reynolds comedy "The Longest Yard," the story of a former football player turned convict who challenges prison guards to a game.
Production will begin in June with Columbia Pictures, Sherry Lansing of Paramount's Motion Picture Group said Monday.
Sandler will play Paul Crewe, the retired football player, in a role Reynolds originally played 30 years ago.
Producers also are in discussion with comedian Chris Rock to play the role of Caretaker and rapper Snoop Dogg to play a member of the team.
"Although we plan to update quite a few things, the overall story will remain intact," said Jack Giarraputo, who co-owns the Happy Madison production company with Sandler. "We want to keep the same blend of comedy and grit that made the first one a classic."

Wow, just when I thought those idiots in Hollywood had ruined every movie possible, they surprise me. What's next, a crappy remake of Brian's Song, oh wait, they already did that. LEAVE OUR SPORTS MOVIES ALONE!!!!

Check out the www.comingsoon.net article on this same thing... www.comingsoon.net/news.php?id=3156"Adam is a brilliant actor and comedian. 'The Longest Yard' is the perfect film to showcase his genius," said Ms. Lansing.

The idiot can barely tie his shoes much less act. I mean, who here actually considers Billy Madison or Little Nicky pieces of comedic cinema mastery? None? That's what I thought. May he rot in hell along with his endorsers. Adam Sandler, what a goofy idiot!!! Servo

The sole movie (in my opinion) that Adam Sandler was good in is "Punch Drunk Love", and that was jst good-ish, not great. the strangeness of the film overwhelmed the acting.

Oh, OK. Sorry. I just had to. It was necessary. I couldn't help it. Go ahead Forrest. I never got mad at all. I love Adam Sandler. I have a big Happy Gilmore poster in my room. Autographed. He'll do a great job.

LEAVE OUR SPORTS MOVIES ALONE!!!! Damn, who's listening??? Servo Just wait, they still have Brian's Song to remake. It'll probably have Brad Pitt and Wesley Snipes. And if Peter Jackson gets the job, The guy wont die of some desease. He'll end up getting a sex change operation and taking a trip in a time machine to have coffee with Vermeer, or something like that.

I think that his entire style is just gadding about slurring his words like a Donald Duck on crack.

The only ex-SNL comedians that make me laugh are Chris Farley and David Spade.

David Spade generates a laugh from time to time, but like Homer said in a certain episode of the Simpsons "I'm like David Spade without Chris Farley! Alone and useless!" But let's not forget Dan Akroyd and John Belushi also. And Eddie Murphy used to make funny movies too.

What, no love for Chevy Chase?
(crickets chirping)
umm....okay. Me neither.
But lest we forget...
Bill Murray
Even in his bad movies, he's funny.
