Since we don't have a "Film Crew" sub-board (yet), I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread compiling reviews of their releases.

I just submitted a review for another website I frequent. When it gets published, I'll post the URL here.

What was that? It had all the timeliness of MST but keep in mind that the show has been cancelled for a decade. I liked the concept, parodying the "Added Value" commentary track by using movies that have no value to begin with but the execution was Sci-Fi era MST without the Shadowramma and the characters. Not necessarily a bad thing but most certainly an old thing.
The film was a good choice, except for the whole "Golden Girl" approach. Given the number of "old" jokes makes me wonder if they were in on the joke or if the Film Crew didn't see that angle. As for the break, I kept looking at the DVD timer at about the half hour mark but the actual break didn't occur until about 10, 15 minutes later and there was only one. It wasn't that funny or interesting but it did its job.
I understand it was hard to compete with that quality of "dancing", "stripping" and "acting" but they lost their flow by the end of the film, sort of like the director. Some highlights include the opening in the junk yard, the "frolicking" on the beach and any "strip" scene not featuring Rue.
2/5 Worth some laughs but no need to rewatch it.

I have it. I watched it.
Its uh...not terrible. Let's just say...its better than Hamlet but unfortunatly worse than...most everything else.
Firstly, its very disorienting not have the shadowrama at the bottom of the screen. Secondly, I now understand why MST had a large writing staff. Thirdly, Mike, Kevin and Bill can't write a sketch to save their asses.
It isn't DREADFULLY awful, it just wasn't worth the $20. D+
Let's hope the next one is better.

I'm thinking that if this sells well (which it seems to be doing due to all the back orders) that they should hire back all the old writing staff that will come back. I don't think the three are all that great at riffing on their own be it Rifftrax or The Film Crew. Hell, even if they can only get Bridget and Mary, two writers that are already active in Rifftrax, it'd still be an improvement.

Even though I started this thread I'll try to avoid reading the reviews until after I watch the movie. I've peeped a little at some of them and everything I've seen has been positive except a couple posts here. I'll try to keep an open mind.

I imagine it's got to be pretty good. I mean I own the Plan 9 and House on Haunted Hill DVDs which have commentaries by Mike by himself, and I also heard his commentary on Reefer Madness, I thought Mike was damn hilarious on his own.
I'm thinking that for me, have Bill and Kevin back should be pretty good. I can't wait until I get my copies.

Personally, I loved it. Aside from no silhouettes this was basically MST3k The Next Generation.
I was thrilled. The guys have not missed a step. They picked right up from where they left off years ago. All is right with the world again. Time and money well spent from where I am sitting.
I can't WAIT for the next one....and the next one...and........
