I don't know, I guess you can blame them for a lot of bad music. They inspired KISS to do their sthick. Quiet Riot covered a couple of their songs. But I've been listing to Slade recently and really enjoy it. They had a slew of good songs like "Cum on Feel the Noize" and "Merry Xmas Everybody." Their seventies stuff was probably the best, but they came back with the decent "Run Runaway." Their glam stuff was cool, and was the start of a road that would go in many different directions (some off a cliff though). Besides the Beatles, I guess they're England's second best selling band in the UK itself.
Anyone else have anything to say about Slade?

Anyone else have anything to say about Slade? Nothing good so I'll stay out of it.

I always liked "Smooth Operator".
"Coast to coast, L.A. to Chicago..."
What? This isn't the Sade thread?

I remember "Merry Xmas" was played on TV's "The Office" (British version) at the Christmas party finale. I like that song a lot.

me and my mates formed a band in high school that covered Cum On Feel The Noize. We called ourselves Spade. There was a picture of a shovel on the bass drum. Fond memories.
As for the band, not a big fan, though they have a load of great singles. Mama We're All Crazy Now (I don't know the Slade spelling) is a belter. One of their songs is the theme tune to a new sitcom called The Visit. It's brilliant. very similar to The Royle Family and Early Doors. No idea what the song is though, it's a slow one.
Noddy Holder's great. He's a TV critic on BBC Radio 2! A genuinely likeable man. the sort you can tell would be great to meet.
And Merry Xmas is played non-stop over here at Christmas. It's a great song, but I for one am sick of it. The fact that The Office used it is for that very reason, it's the most obvious choice to be playing at a Christmas party.
