Bill had a little QA on the Rifftrax blog yesterday. Here's a little piece of info he mentioned that I've never heard.
WaffleTron:
If MST3K were to come back somehow, and ALL the cast and writers returned from the 10 year run of the show, what do you think would happen? Would Josh and Kevin fight over who would provide Servos voice? Would you want to be Crow or let Trace reprise the character as long as you got to be in it some way?[/b]
Reply from Bill Corbett:
Ahh, dreamy little hypothetical, isn’t it?
I think we’d have to alternate the roles. But maybe not. If Trace and I had to battle for it, I’d give him the edge. He’s got reach.
More for real: as far as I know, and as sad a fact as it is, MST3K will not be returning in any form. Never say never, I guess, but it’s at least nothing i’m privy to.
I hope I’m not making this up, but if I’m correct (just from reading stuff online, mind you) Joel wanted to talk about doing this fairly recently?…but Best Brains preferred to go with the flash cartoons. (Don’t take this as gospel. Verify.)
What I can verify is that about five years ago Best Brains Inc. asked Mike, Kevin and I to reboot the show. We said we were interested, had a meeting, started discussions, but… couldn’t come to terms. Sad but true.
This is why I don’t think MST3K will ever be returning. But luckily, between Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic, there’s still plenty of riffing going on.

We've all heard about Joel talking with BBI, but I didn't know that MK&B talked with BBI--he said five years ago. I wonder if this had anything to do with The Film Crew and the delay of their DVDs.
EDIT: further down the QA, more info on The Film Crew:
As of this week — literally a few days ago — I can finally confirm the sad news that The Film Crew is no more.
(I’m a barrell of laughs in this Q & A today, aren’t I? Nothing but death announcements.)
More in a minute…
We’re all pretty bummed that we couldn’t work out a way to continue Film Crew, in some form. It has more to do with the unfortunate timing — as I’ve probably said in a previous Q and A, we were waiting around for a long time after we filmed the Film Crew things in 2005, wondering if they’d be released. For a while the answer was NO.
So we moved on. And Mike joined up with Legend to do Rifftrax, and was kind (or foolish?) enough to ask Kevin and me aboard. And now there’s just no way of doing both.
It’s not the fault of Shout Factory — they’ve been pretty excellent to us. It’s what came before they picked us up!
As for seeing our live images onscreen again — thanks, but why would you want that? We’d getting old and creepy (creepier) looking. Well, I speak personally.
Thanks for the question. There may yet be ways for Rifftrax to branch out into other ways of riffing, including some cool visual component. We’ll be trying something soon. Stay tuned, as ever!
Not really a shocker, but now it's official.
