I was converting my tape of Secret Agent Super Dragon to DVD yesterday and I noticed how bad the BB copy of the movie was. There were all sorts of artifacts on the tape. It almost looked like a movie from the 1930's rather than the 60's.
I wonder which was the worst MST3k movie print?
Not the worst movie but the movie that looks like its in the worst shape, like a kids movie tape that's been watched 1000 times.

Some of the short films have lots of film breaks in them. I'd say any of the Undersea Kingdom episodes or maybe The Corpse Vanishes are probably the worst quality overall (understandably so)
Oh, and the old General Hospital kinescopes.

Easy: Horrors of Spider Island.
They must have had a very crappy copy of that one on tape!

There are lots of them but 102 and 105 stand out as the worst to me.

The Screaming Skull is in pretty bad shape. It's loaded with scratches and pops, and there's a moment about 3/4 of the way through the episode where there are about four or five film breaks in under ten seconds!

The Touch of Satan is in pretty bad shape. The subtle farting noises sprinkled throughout it. Also, the picture doesn't look very crisp (like an old EP tape that had been watched a lot). There are also plenty of scratches to go around.

I think it has to be a season one ep. The two skyroniter mentioned are pretty bad. I'd also add Mad Monster and The Slime People to his list, as two that are particularly unwatchable due to the print.

The Screaming Skull is also so over exposed that its blinding. Poor transfer, film breaks, dirt and scratches plus all the extraneous noise. Almost unwatchable.

The jump cuts, low-budget dubbing and the appearance that original owners/screeners of the reels didn't care too much about the handing and storing of films add to the greatness of these. Cooper: "Well sometimes dr...(cut)...true. *kisses Cynthia* Joel and the bots: AHHH!!!!

The Phantom Creeps episodes. By far. Easily the hardest thing to look at. Good riffing but they'll mess your vision up. Having said that they are the oldest things the crew ever saw.

Nobody's mentioned Castle of Fu Manchu yet? Half the scenes were so faded they were just red blobs, and a bunch of others were tinted green.

The ones that bother me the most are the very DARK DARK copies. I actually begin to lose patience because I simply cannot SEE anything! In my collection these include:
113: "The Black Scorpion" 206: "Ring of Terror"
Also, one of the "Master Ninja" eps has a scene in a nightclub, and the music soundtrack is so clearly warped (like a vinyl disc on a worn-out turntable) that I was surprised the Brains never made a quip about it.
