Now, I realize I'll be talking to a select few here, but...
Star Trek has great music. Regardless of what you may or may not think of the plots, the music is probably some of the best you can find on television shows.
That being said:
If you could pick, what is your favorite Star Trek music?
It could be a theme, or just something you happen to like a lot. Personally, I'd have to pick 'Archer's Theme' from Enterprise. I'm pretty sure it that's what the song they play over the ending credits is. I have the full version too, which is even cooler (the Clarinet in the begining is really neat).
So, what Trek tunes do you hum when you're humming a Trek tune?

I adore Jerry Goldsmith's contributions to the series. Even though it's a dead obvious one, if I ever picked a favorite it would be the Star Trek: The Motion Picture theme (and it's much bigger reincarnations over the years from Star Trek: The Next Generation to Star Trek: Nemesis). It's just the most rousing, most perfect them I've ever heard, even up against some of my other favorites like John Williams' Superman theme and Alan Silvestri's Back to the Future theme.

That theme from "This Side of Paradise." Gets in your head.
Also, I always liked the Indian-style music from "The Paradise Syndrome."

The movies are where it's at. Goldsmith's The Motion Picture soundtrack stands as one of the best all time movie soundtracks, followed closely by The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country. Soundtracks used to be my life pretty much but I've kind of gotten out of touch with them for a few years.

In a related topic the worst Star Trek music is the opening song from Enterprise. It doomed the show. Seriously.

I disagree. Faith of the Heart stayed true to the spirit of the show and it blended with the opening credits beautifully.
The worst was by far the main theme of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. I don't know how high Leonard Roseman was when he recorded it, and maybe I don't want to know. It sounded like he thought he was conducting some sort of Christmas film.

While I don't think 'Faith of the Heart' was a bad theme (in fact, probably my second favorite to Voyager's) many folks who watched Enterprise were taken aback by it.
It was different.

It was different. But I would've hated that song under any circumstance. I don't like mushy power ballads.

Yeah, it took me a few episodes to break it out of that "WTF" factor it had going, but I came to like it. Although the redoing of it for seasons 3 and 4 was fairly weak, IMO. It's kind of like the Ballad of Serenity from Firefly. First time I heard it, I thought to myself " What?" Now I can't get the damn words out of my head. Take my love, take my land, Something, something... OK, maybe I don't have all of it in my head, but most of it's stuck in there.

Yeah... I'm not too sure that 'Faith...' needed percussion accompniment.

It's hard to remember and compare if you don't have them to listen to one after the other...which would be enjoyable in itself! Sort of like beer tasting; ya gotta line 'em up!

I never thought that "Faith of the heart" was one of the best things about the music from Star Trek's history, but I was never bothered by it there. I mean, it was something of a shock the first time that I heard it, but it eventually became something that I just didn't think about.
And then the instrumentation changed one season....I can't remember how bothered by that I was....

I like the fight music from the original series. Makes me want to fight. Oh god I love that too. Even more so, I love Crow's variation of it in Last of the Wild Horses, where he says "Die!" to every note.
