Ah, the hardwood season is upon us. It's a long way to March Madness, but we're not that far from the conference seasons, either, so it's time for the new college hoops thread to emerge. A quick glance at the two major polls: sports.espn.go.com/ncb/rankingsNorth Carolina has lived up to the hype so far, even when they haven't had Hansbrough. Of the other top teams I've seen play, Texas and Gonzaga look pretty darn good. Still waiting to catch Pitt on television somewhere. And I'm not sold on Duke just yet. I'm an Indiana fan, so I'm ready for a few years of serious hurt. Still, they played Gonzaga fairly close, so I'll take some solace in that. But I'm liking the new look Big Ten – strong games so far from Michigan, Ohio State and a good start from Minnesota, even though it's been a bunch of cupcakes at home. Even though they're a rival, I'd still kind of like to see the Gophers and Tubby do well. Purdue and Notre Dame may both be overrated. We'll see. Ah, the finest sporting season of the year. Let it begin

I'm sticking with my pick every year which is Gonzaga. They're looking great this year and with Heytvelt healthy they got a solid chance this year. Hopefully they can make it past the first weekend of the tournament this year.
