As much as the season finale of the show irritated me last year, I have to say I still love the show. I normally never watch any TV dramas, but I find this one fascinating. It's well acted, and I really like the darker direction they appear to be taking the show in.
My wife bought the first season on DVD and that really rekindled my love for the show. I was ready to throw in the towel after the season finale which at the time I felt left a LOT to be desired. I understand wanting the audience to tune in next season, but I felt like I was being strung along.
I watched it again a few days ago and I've since changed my opinion. I still don't think it's the greatest episode, but there were a few interesting developments. Definitely enough to continue watching the show this season.
Anyway season two started last Wednesday, and I was curious to see how many (if any?) of you on the board are fans. I don't think I've ever seen a post about the show before, so I'm interested to see how this turns out.

I'll watch as long as there's fairly interesting characters and situations.
There was an ep from last season where Jack was pounding on somebody's chest, yelling, "I'm not gonna let you die!" LOL I almost quit watching right there. LOL Nobody would say that.
But a pretty decent show and I'll keep watching as long as it stays that way.

You're trying to tell me a doctor who nearly lost a patient before this wouldn't say that when faced with the exact same situation again? I completely disagree.

I don't think I've ever seen a post about the show before, so I'm interested to see how this turns out. I've posted about it a few times recently in the "So I Just Finished Watching 2" thread. But I'm as curious as you are M&M to see if there are other fans. MSTies tend to be smarter than your average TV viewer, so I'd hope we get a good response. If not, I hope we get some LOST converts at least. I love the show. It's the first primetime show that's won me over as a fan in at least 10 years. In the craphole that is network television, it's great to see good writing, directing, and storytelling. I heard someone say it was just like "scripted Survivor" and I almost punched him in the face. While I love the mystery/mythology, my favorite part of the show is the storytelling device of the flashback character development. I think the acting is better than average, but some of them occasionally slip into melodrama/soap opera/scenery chewing mode (I'm looking at you, Claire). Of course, Terry O'Quinn is a frickin' genius. The only time I got really pissed off at the show was with the whole amnesia cop-out. As I posted in the other thread, that was a cliche back when it happened to Arnold Jackson in 1984. The pounding on Charlie's chest for 8 minutes was good for the drama, but medical nonsense. And I love the idea of hatch-man. A great answer that wasn't a cop-out, yet was totally unpredictable.

I thought that film was brilliant and have always remembered it as one of the very few horror films to truly scare the crap out of me. Terry was phenominal in that one (As usual!) and I was a bit disappointed to find out it is not out on DVD yet the inferior sequel is Terry is very good friends with Chris Carter (X-Files Main Man) and has been in an episode and the X-Files movie. The guy seems to pop up everywhere. My brother even noticed him in the werewolf movie "Silver Bullet" which was made way back in '85!

I love the moment when Locke and Boone first go into the jungle together, and Boone is talking about Star Trek and how the guy in the red shirt always gets killed. He asks Locke if he's ever seen Star Trek, and Locke makes a disgusted face as if to say, "it was never worth my time." He even refers to Captain Kirk as "a piss-poor captain."
Of course, the kicker is that Terry O'Quinn played an Admiral on Star Trek:The Next Generation.

I have never seen it, though I'd like to catch it some day so that I can get a feel for it.
And as a side-confession, I'm going to say that when I first heard of it I thought it was a reality show. Probably why I didn't get in on the ground floor with it.
-EDIT-
I just realize that that last paragraph looks like a joke. But it's not. I honestly thought it was a reality show.

Keeps me hanging onto my VCR. Strangely enough, this American horror film is available through Amazon UK. Twice in fact: on it's own and as part of a Modern Classics pack with "Glengarry Glen Ross."

If I wasn't such a DVD snob I would have my VCR hooked up. It is currently gathering dust in our storage facility. With Glengarry Glen Ross huh? That seems like an odd pairing to me

If I could vote "Love it! Can't wait for Wednesday nights!" 500 times, I totally would. This show is GOLD! Gold, Jerry! Gold!
I've liked 2 tv dramas in my entire life: X-Files and Lost. And they both have similarities - Terry O'Quinn, for one. The mystery, the unexplained, and more questions than answers. I like puzzles. It keeps me guessing and is always interesting.
If anybody else here is a diehard X-Files fan, you'll remember Terry O'Quinn's face from a couple of X-Files appearances. Probably most memorable is his appearance in the Fight the Future: he was the guy who blew up with the vending machine. I've heard Terry and Chris Carter are great friends.
I agree with Mr. Atari - the character flashbacks are great. I love how they are telling the character's stories in reverse - the first season was all about what situation brought them on Oceanic Flight 815 (departing from Gate 23 - all components of the creepy numbers). And this season we're going to travel a bit further back to get some more insight.

Haven't seen it. I have heard they don't have an ending in sight, and the only way out is "It was all a dream."

Haven't seen it. I have heard they don't have an ending in sight, and the only way out is "It was all a dream." Actually, creator and head writer Damon Lindelof says he and the producers know the answers to everything they set up, and that everything has an explanation. I think this is true because after things are revealed and mysteries are explained, you can go back and see clues that were there all along. For example, he's said that the mural in the hatch gives clues as to hatch-man's existence and purpose on the island. He also said last spring that he already knows what the season finale of season 2 will be. I think the X-Files ruined their mythology and never satisfied the fans. Interestingly, the producers of LOST have shared the same opinion. So I think it'll all be explained.

I'll keep watching until they start to rip off the Twlight Zone. The entire time I watch it I always think of Crow going "Well my only real question is...What the heck was going on!!??"
