I have a quote from one of the producers about that...trouble is, how to post it here and still hide it from people who don't want to hear spoilers... And it's not good news, btw.

That was a great episode last night. The ending with the computer was pretty creepy. I've heard that's the last new episode of the year which, if true, is kind of lame. I guess most shows go on hiatus in Decmeber though so I can't complain too much.

Some other miscellaneous theories I've heard...
Since the bunker they're in has the big electromagnet, failure to enter the numbers every 108 minutes will result in a massive electromagnetic pulse that would disable systems on an airplane, causing it to crash.
Mr. Eko wasn't on flight 815, but was actually on the Nigerian missionary/heroin smuggling plane.
All of the mysteries of the island itself have to do with the Dharma Institute folks. There are multiple bunkers, each with a different purpose (E/M, zoology, genetics, etc). The Others are former Dharma folks who are performing some sort of eugenics experiment, and the random animals (polar bear, black stallion, shark with Dharma tattoo) are all from the zoology station. And the Monster/security system is a mechanized alarm to keep people out of the most dangerous bunker (biohazards, maybe).

Okay....now this has gone too far... BTW....MAJOR Spoiler at the bottom of this post....read at your own risk. I'll put some space at the bottom so that you can read the next post without seeing it. ***************************************************************** A guote from Lost E.P. Damon Lindelof on the recurring numbers that appear in several guises on the show: Last chance.... "Executive Producer Carlton Cuse] might want to punch me for actually going on record and saying this, but I think that that question will never, ever be answered. I couldn't possibly imagine. We will see more ramifications of the numbers and more usage of the numbers, but it boggles my mind when people ask me, "What do the numbers mean?" ************************************************** You're safe (I think)

The bad numbers (also the numbers on the hatch, and the numbers Hurley played, the numbers that were repeated after the French woman's distress call ,and the numbers that have to be punched into the computer): 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42 = 108. The number of minutes that it takes until the code (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42) needs to be imputed into the computer before something happens (or not). Put "8" and "15" together, makes 815, as in Oceanic Flight 815. 16 is also the number of years the french woman has been on the island. 23 ~ Survivors of the tail section 42 ~ Survivors with Locke and Hurley's group (including -1 for the death and +1 for the birth) 8 ~ Pieces of chicken Hurley ate the day he won the lotto. 8 ~ Numbers of tail survivors left.
8, 23 & 42 are three sets of numbers from the bad numbers
Also, what did the Walt say in the vision? It was backwards "Any button will be ok. All the buttons are the same."
Just old observations of my own I've accumulated.

And finally another new episode January 11th. When a show like this goes on hiatus for awhile it really is kind of frustrating because you forget a lot of what has been happening. At least I do Here's some possible spoilers (i.e. guesses) to get you ready for next Wednesday. I'd warn you about spoilers, but since I'm just pulling these out of my butt...: Mr. Eko (the big Tailie) has some connection to the Nigerian drug plane. Libby (the psychiatrist Tailie) has some connection to Locke & his paralyzation. Ana-Lucia (the really annoying Tailie) discovers the cable on the beach that Sayid found in the first season, follows it into the water, and discovers an underwater hatch. Desmond (hatch man) is found, possibly in the underwater hatch, and explains more about his story. The Others are in the "safe" part of the island, and are protecting the children they kidnap. To get there, Michael will need to go through the "security system" (i.e. the monster). The real Sawyer (the con-man who killed Sawyer's parents), turns out to be Locke's father (the con-man who stole Locke's kidney).

And by the way I couldn't help myself. I have to post these recent mugshots of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros. They were both arrested minutes apart after one of their infamous "cast parties" where they watch the show together and (at least these two..) and get loaded in the process. Personally I think they were doing a little more than drinking (I have my herbal remedy suspicions ) but either way these are priceless. ;D DECEMBER 2--Two actresses from the television series "Lost" were arrested early yesterday within minutes of each other for drunk driving in Hawaii, where the ABC megahit is filmed. Honolulu cops nabbed Michelle Rodriguez, 27, and Cynthia Watros, 37, just past midnight after spotting their cars weaving on the Kalaniana'ole Highway, which connects Kailua and Honolulu. The women, both of whom failed field sobriety tests, were each charged with driving under the influence and released after posting $500 bail. Rodriguez, who plays "Ana Lucia" on the TV series, and Watros, who plays "Libby," are scheduled for December 29 license revocation hearings in District Court.

I Knew that Ethan Rom guy was not on the plane!!! My wife anted to know if Ethan Rom was an acronym. I pointed out that "Rom" is what the Gypsies called themselves, and Gypsies were often accused of stealing children (like the others). Then I blew her away by saying that if you scramble the letters in Ethan Rom, you get Other Man. Heh heh. I love this show for those kinds of funky details!

I really liked tonight's ep (entitled, "The 23rd Psalm"). Not only did it confirm my suspicion about Mr. Eko (see above), it was also a great flashback ep for him. It didn't do much to advance the storyline on the island itself, but it (the flashback) was one of the better dramatic stories told on TV in a long time. The one bummer for me was that during the emotional climax of the episode, when Eko & Charlie are quoting the titular passage, they misquoted it. They said, "the shadow of the valley of death", instead of the correct, "valley of the shadow of death". It's too well-known of a passage for people not to notice that. Unless it was a deliberate error, but that doesn't make any sense either. Totally pulled me out of the moment. Then again, how many TV shows on the air today would have the cajones to quote an entire chapter of the Bible as part of the dialogue? Not counting "The O.C.", of course.

I may be keeping this thread alive all by myself, but I don't care. I'm not about to join a LOST discussion board because people who sit around talking about some TV show all day need serious help. Anyway, tonight's show really bummed me out. Not only was Charlie's backstory really not interesting, you had Claire running around screaming, "My BABY!" some more, and they totally made Locke out to be a big ol' bastard. Not cool. He's my favorite character. And I thought it was classic phony TV writing that no one Charlie tried to talk to would listen to him. Also, I've never heard of any Catholic priest in the world who believes that Jesus was sinful prior to his baptism, and the dove signified his newfound purity. I liked the baptism plot device, but Eko's description of it was total Hollywood hogwash.

Time to bump this one again.
Last night's ep was pretty cool.
Some things I learned elsewhere online:
When Locke mis-entered the numbers, and the clock hit zero, the pictures that came up were heiroglyphs that spell the word "Death".
One of Sayid's captors in his flashback was Kate's step-dad. He had a picture of Kate and asked Sayid if he had a family.
The man Sayid finds and tortures gave the name Henry Gale and said he crashed his balloon on the island. Henry Gale is the name of Dorothy's uncle in The Wizard of Oz, and the Wizard leaves Oz in a hot air balloon. ("I can't stop it, I don't know how it works!")
Henry also misses some important facts about ballooning (he says he used helium), so he's definitely lying and an "other".
Next week, we get to find another hatch, and finally get Claire's "amnesia" holes filled.

I believe the symbols mean DEATH 5 letters in the word, 5 spaces on the clock
Also I believe what the noise we heard was the bunker getting ready to expell "the black smoke". Electromagnetic entity. I think that the others intentionaly let theirs run down from time to time. If you recall, Jack's friend was down in the hatch, inoculating himself for something, or where they vitamin or sleep deprivation shots?

Bump because there have been some cool episodes lately.
Just who is Henry Gale (not his real name)?
