I love season 1 ;D and the demon dogs in Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy. I had just seen The Green Slime on tv and caught RvTAM a few days later. I think everyone should see The Green Slime first and then watch the episode.
Season 1 was still being played on CC when I first discovered the show in the middle of season 2. The first episode I ever saw was Robot Holocaust.
More season 1, please? Moon Zero Two and Robot Monster would be nice.

Nice to see Shout's continuing the release of "important" episodes. If memory serves, didn't Trace say that the Demon Dog skit in Robot Vs The Aztec Mummy was the reason the SOL was bone-shaped?

GREAT looking set. I'm also a closet 102 fan, and 509 & 604 are top-tier episodes. Never seen 'Racket Girls.'
Comes out two days before my b-day. What a perfect gift!

Awesome, afriendlychicken! I'm so glad there is somebody that actually likes Season 1. It gets a bad rap, and I admit, Season 1 is a bit of an acquired taste... but the movies they riffed on have a great midnight B-movie horror flick feel to them and Josh is clearly a talented riffer and a pretty darn good Tom Servo. Of course, I love every season of MST3k, and there are less than a handful of episodes that I do not favor. In my opinion, MST3k episodes are either Classic, Great, or Good with only 4 episodes of exception. GREAT looking set. I'm also a closet 102 fan, and 509 & 604 are top-tier episodes. Never seen 'Racket Girls.' Comes out two days before my b-day. What a perfect gift! That is a great birthday gift, and as I stated in an earlier post, Racket Girls is a great episode and the short, Are You Ready For Marriage?, is one of the most hilarious shorts ever. Racket Girls is the movie Ed Wood wished he would have made... A really fun episode, and I think you'll enjoy it.

YES!!!! So thrilled about Zombie Nightmare as it's a favorite of mine. I haven't seen the other three but will be more than happy to add them to my collection.
And seriously, major league thanks to Shout! for getting these out at a good pace.
Now, about Escape 2000, Final Sacrifice and Track of the Moon Beast...

This is great news. Zombie Nightmare has been on my wish list for a long time. I have it on tape but the quality isn't too hot, so I am thrilled to finally have a chance to see a nice clean copy of the ep. I haven't seen Racket Girls in a while but I remember liking it. I like Girl In Lover's Lane, even though it's one depressing film. As for Robot vs. Aztec Mummy, I saw it a long time ago and don't remember much about it. All in all, a nice set. Looking forward to it!

(I can guess "Hamlet" is probably one of them...) :-) I knew I might open a can of worms with that comment. Well... Here they are in no particular order: Hamlet, Gorgo, Mighty Jack, and... uhhh... another one... one that... uhhh... may or may not have anything to do with your current avatar. See... I know it is all just opinion, but that's why I usually don't disclose my four un-favs. But again... I don't hate those 4 episodes. Those are just the four that I watch the least. If it comes down to Warrior of the Lost World or Mighty Jack... 9 times out of 10, I'm going to pick WotLW... but one day, I'll be like, "That sure was a delicious sandwich I had for lunch. Hmmm... What MST3k episode do I want to watch? Hey, I haven't watched Mighty Jack in a while. I think I'll pop that one in the ole Laserdisc player. Darn cat scratched up my futon again. I'm going to have to take him and have him fixed." Admittedly, I didn't edit that last thought that was based on an actual thought I had around mid August of last year, but I think it paints a pretty accurate picture of how I sometimes even watch episodes that don't make my top 20.

I really like season 1 just fine, but I watch this show to laugh (not for the movies) and the truth is, not much laughter spills from my maw when I watch Aztec Mummy. They want to represent the first season at its best, personally I'd prefer to get Project Moonbase or Untamed Youth.
But what I really wish is that we could get some more from season 3. When was the last one, Santa and the Martians? I know rights issues are an issue, but you think we could get the Corman flicks at least.

I mentioned to Joel in Chicago that I'd like to see them do Corman's Attack of the Crab Monsters. He said that Corman gave them a hard time about Wasp Woman. He started threatening a lawsuit because it was "his" film. Well, it might have been his film, but he didn't own it anymore. I hope Joel decides to do another Corman film just to stick it to him.

That's it...you're dead to me. I'm kidding, of course! I realize I'm in a minority of people who actually enjoy Castle of Fu Manchu. It may actually be a sub-par episode, but I think my fondness for it is more sentimental (it's one of the first eps. I ever had on tape) than based on the actual episode quality. For the most part, I agree on your other three picks. Those would definitely rank near the bottom of my list, too. I rarely return to those episodes.

This is probably my only disappointment with the DVD sets--not enough season 3, and it looks pretty clear that there isn't much of a chance of getting much season 3 either. Every time an announcement is coming, I say "maybe this will be the set--maybe this time we'll get a Gamera movie, or a miracle will happen and we'll get It Conquered the World" and every time--nothing. At least season 5 is pretty well represented. 3 and 5 are my favorites.

Its been a long while since I've seen Castle of Fu Manchu, so I'm sure its time to get me a better copy on DVD and check it out again. MST3k episodes are bizarre, in that certain episodes completely miss the mark and you revisit them and BLAM! They're one of your favs... I know that topic has been discussed at length on this forum. Red Zone Cuba was like that for me when it first aired, but now it is an absolute classic. But, back on topic... can't wait for this awesome set... wish it were out sooner, and I'm curious if Shout Factory is really going to be able to step up and get some of the much harder to get episodes. I've been very happy with their sets and the episodes they've released thus far, but based on Travis' list, no real monumental episode has been unearthed. Dying to see Master Ninja I & II, Attack of the The Eye Creatures, any of the Sandy Frank stuff, and what is the hold up on Final Sacrifice? Oh well...
