So...three episodes I haven't seen -- one of which I'm really looking forward to seeing ("Zombie Nightmare") -- plus the terrific "Girl in Lovers' Lane" and glimpses of my beloved KTMA? I love you, Shout!Factory.

I mentioned to Joel in Chicago that I'd like to see them do Corman's Attack of the Crab Monsters. He said that Corman gave them a hard time about Wasp Woman. He started threatening a lawsuit because it was "his" film. Well, it might have been his film, but he didn't own it anymore. I hope Joel decides to do another Corman film just to stick it to him. Ahh, so that's why they put that notice on the CT DVD of WASP WOMAN, great bit of info! They couldn't do CRAB MONSTERS because Warner owns it (though it would be awesome to see riffed by the CT gang no doubt). Interestingly, those "Santa Clara Productions" copyrights for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and a few other FilmGroup/Corman films are still listed at the copyright office... I guess Roger never kept after them in the 80s'/90's (when the PD released started appearing). An early prediction for Vol 16: THE CORPSE VANISHES CASTLE OF FU-MANCHU FINAL SACRIFICE TRACK OF THE MOONBEAST But since they said 16 was lining up to be "pretty big", there are a few titles I'm thinking might be coming up. SF is doing an amazing job, especially by planning titles and sets ahead of time to take advantage of rights.

SF is doing an amazing job, especially by planning titles and sets ahead of time to take advantage of rights. I like your predictions, but wouldn't FINAL SACRIFICE sort of be considered a "big" addition to most fans? That's the title I tend to see thrown around the most in the "Wishlist" thread. Myself, I think FINAL SACRIFICE is a really good episode, but would be more excited about FU MANCHU being on the set, as expressed earlier. :-) Unless by "big", they mean really big, like DIABOLIK or something.

I really like season 1 just fine, but I watch this show to laugh (not for the movies) and the truth is, not much laughter spills from my maw when I watch Aztec Mummy. They want to represent the first season at its best, personally I'd prefer to get Project Moonbase or Untamed Youth. But what I really wish is that we could get some more from season 3. When was the last one, Santa and the Martians? I know rights issues are an issue, but you think we could get the Corman flicks at least. Lord Crab Monster's would be golden. As for rights, I always liked and respected what John Lennon said, concerning the fact that he didn't own his own songs and that they could be used for commercials etc and he could do nothing about it. He said it used to bug him but he relealized that just because he create a song didn't mean he owned it. Once it was out there on the airwaves etc it belonged to everyone. It didn't change what it was or what it meant to him on a personal level. Nothing could change or take that aspect away from him. Corman can still have "Wasp Woman" as his film, the CT treatment can't take that away from him... but your right, the naughty side of me would like to see them do another just to stick it to him. Lawsuit threatnin' cranky crab!

Oh as for what would be a "big" episode. I would hazzard a guess that it would be something that fans have long clamoured for (Night of the Blood Beast with both host segs, or one of the Russian flicks) or those that ranked high in the Rhino polls. #1 and #2 - Puma Man or Final Sacrifice.

At least they're easy to identify. When bward announced 16 will be big, I got the feeling we'd be in for some amazing extras (Raw, Summer Blockbuster Reviews, etc.), or maybe a little Tom Servo or something, not just great eps. Time will tell, I guess.

Nice set. None of them are really favorites of mine, but I don't have any of them on DVD and it's always great to get another season 1. And very nice to see more Mike CC era.

I've actually taken a liking to this standardization of the covers. They are easily identifiable as MST3K, unlike the strange covers Rhino turned out.

The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy – I like this episode because I like crappy movies and the mummy is actually pretty cool. Yeah it’s a snoozer, but if you’re a misty then you probably want all the episodes for your collection and so here ya go. Most people tend to rate it as one of the worst.
The Girl in Lovers Lane – I never liked this episode despite the praise it gets form some people. The move is dark, dreary and boring. At least The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy has a Robot and an Aztec Mummy in it. This is one of those episodes that I have no desire to ever watch again.
Zombie Nightmare – Now you’re talking! This is a great episode that is consistently funny from start to finish. Highlights include the horrible acting from the “teenagers”, a big dumb zombie, Batman and the voodoo priestess lady who is one of the most hilarious characters to ever appear in the series. The voice crow does for her is comedy gold. One of the best Mike CC era episodes.
Racket Girls – This episode holds a strange power over me. Whenever I try to watch it I fall asleep. I think that it really sucks but after I wake up I don’t remember a damned thing. Maybe I’m subconsciously repressing my memories of the film so I don’t go insane, or perhaps the episode put me into a strange trance and I grow hair and fangs, only to roam the swamps in search foolish townsfolk to satisfy my unholy craving for human flesh.
Well, probably not but it’s a bad episode. Still, it’ll give me a chance to try and sit through it again when the dvd comes out. The extras look nice too.

Time will tell, I guess. It's highly unlikely we'll ever get the Summer Blockbuster Reviews, and I doubt we'd get THE LAST DANCE RAW! unless Shout! managed to get the rights to DIABOLIK.

I bet you 20 dollars that the "Glimpses at KTMA" is ripped directly from the mst3k scrapbook tape. Hey its what they did with the 20 year look back special on the first dvd.

Don't be so negative remember Jim Mallon did recently announce that he's interested in releasing more KTMA material either through mst3k.com or DVD special features. Even if it's nothing new I really doubt that Shout Factory would put out the exact same extras on two releases released less than a year apart.

Also, just to point among other things out this was posted as coming soon to MST3K.com on Satellite News this afternoon: And be on the lookout for the new “MST3K Genesis” page, featuring clips, stills and memoirs from the KTMA/Season 1 days.
