One more point for me. And, I'm sorry, but it's fun to watch Brady lose. Is that playoffs, or in general?

Well, tell me how you really feel. You really, really don't me to do that Dave. As if I didn't already know. But it's OK, we lost, so you won't have to hear about it. Is that playoffs, or in general? Playoffs. No one likes a consistently successful person. How true, unless your a homie. One more point for me. And, I'm sorry, but it's fun to watch Brady lose. I have to agree with you there. Matt You can't deny the Pats have had a decent run. But, if Berman is so biased (I haven't paid attention to him in ages), then now he can start fawning over the Broncos for sticking a fork in my Pats. But, it's no different than all the Colts bias we've heard for some time now. And this from a Pats fan who not only had them knocking off his team, but also has them winning the Super Bowl.

Berman acts like the Pats are the 49ers of the east and Tom Brady is Joe Montana and Bill Belechek is Bill Walsh. He rarely does any interviews but the past two he's done have been with Belechek and Brady. The fact that the team is so close to Bristol, Conn. makes it a hundred times worse. As far as all the Colts hype, I'm tired of it too. But like with anything, the media takes something and overhypes it until everyone is sick of it. I'm glad I won't be having to hear about Brady being 11-0 and undefeated in the playoffs blah blah blah anymore. Matt

I never watch the pre or post game shows any more. I can hardly stand the game announcers these days (Can Phil Simms bring anything of substance to the mix? Geeze he's a droning bore).
It's hype and nonsense. A few years ago they were all talking about how Holmgren had lost it. The other day they were calling him the smartest coach in the game?

History will determine this, but over the past four years, the Patriots would seem to be the 49ers of the East. Brady has been Montana-ish, not better, but similar. Belichick is not Lombardi, but he's coached well and challenged records (I say challenged because of more playoff games due to the format). It's been a good run, and while I don't believe it's at an end just yet, success creates hype. The Colts, Steelers and Patriots have had success, as have the Seahawks, Packers and Vikings. These six teams are among the most talked about, but it doesn't last forever.

Speaking of annoying announcers, the FOX guy who does play-by-play with Moose bugs the crap out of me. (Dick Stockton?)
Not because his play-by-play in and of itself is that bad, but he'll randomly say weird stuff on a consistent basis that's way off. I'd say they were forgivable brain-hiccups, but they're beyond that.
For example, several weeks ago a team was up by three points and he said that with a field goal they could make it a two score game. I figured I'd heard it wrong. Then, a play later, he said it AGAIN. A few plays after that he corrected himself.
Then today he referred to last week's playoff game with the Redskins at the Bucs, as last year's playoff game.

When it comes to football announcers, there's no one worse than the Joe Theismann/Paul Maguire team. ESPN's Bill Simmons skewers them brilliantly on a regular basis. I love living in a city with an AFC West team because that means I get Dick Enberg every week. One of the best ever. Oh my!
Oh, by the way, the Broncos won.
I hate to say I told you so, but everyone on the Patriots hype bandwagon can frickin' EAT IT!
And that includes the Around the Horn and PTI blowhards, the FOX and CBS pre-game "experts", and anyone who played the "I don't trust Jake" card.
That felt good. Sorry to DW and the other genuine Patriot fans. You back a classy team.

The thing that bugs me is that pro football has a long, storied history - but they act like it didn't exist before the Super Bowl era. They did that poll on the greatest dynasty. There was no 60's Packers (5 championships, 3 in a row) or Paul Brown's Cleveland team. Baseball seems to do a better job of remembering and honoring its past.

Agreed, and I deal with that all the time. I hate to say I told you so, but everyone on the Patriots hype bandwagon can frickin' EAT IT! When it comes to football announcers, there's no one worse than the Joe Theismann/Paul Maguire team. I kind of agree with that, but that leaves out that awful play-by-play guy who's on the same announce team, and he's the worst. The thing that's funny about Paul is that he seems to pick who his personal MVP is before every game, and point out fairly routine plays featuring that player, but he talks about them as if they're remarkable. One time his player of the day was Zach Thomas, and they ran some replay where Thomas just sorta shifted his feet aimlessly, before the play finally ended as someone else brought down the ball carrier several yards away. Paul made a huge deal about how hard Thomas was trying and how he never gave up the pursuit.

Just like Brady winning his first ten playoff games could somehow overshadow anyone from previous eras when fewer playoff games were played. Sure, it's a great accomplishment, but it doesn't make it better. Same as the Pats can't be compared to previous teams in any meaninful way. I could make a Celtics argument here, but that's a whole other topic.
