Okay, this one is sure to be riff-worthy. A group of squeaky-sounding Japanese voice actresses got together and formed a band called Pun-Colle. They covered a bunch of classic punk and alternative songs. (The lead singer's name is before each song.)
Just look at the track listing: 1. Haruko Momoi "Sex and Violence" 2. Haruna Ikezawa "Basket Case" 3. Kaori Shimizu "White Riot" 4. Mai Kadowaki "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" 5. Rie Tanaka "Anarchy in the UK" 6. Yuko Goto "London's Burning" 7. Haruko Momoi "Call Me" 8. Haruna Ikezawa "God Save the Queen" 9. Kaori Shimizu "Blitzkrieg Pop" 10. Mai Kadowaki "Search and Destroy" 11. Rie Tanaka "Ruby Soho" 12. Yuko Goto "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
All of these songs are available on Youtube along with a picture of the cover to the CD. It is because of the cover that I cannot link to here. (Just search under "Pun-colle.") Especially riff-worthy are "Anarchy in the UK" and "Smells like Teen Spirit," which were turned into sappy ballads.
I am not joking.
But hey, what can you expect from a country that gave us Prince of Space?
