I just scanned through the thread and didn't see one mention of Manos, which has surely got to be the most hyped episode of all-time. Hasn't that always been the classic episode for disappointing people who watch it for the first time after they've been exposed to all of the "best episode ever" hype? Yes.

Oddly enough, I loved Manos the first time I saw it.

I know it's probably sacrilege around here, but I was a teeny bit disappointed with Mitchell. I was so hyped for it I even got the single DVD. It was pretty funny, but I guess I had already heard so much about the best parts that I was too prepared.
On the other hand, re: The Rebel Set - one of my favorite episodes ever!. When Crow said "Chief, that's sick!" when he sat on that little stool thing, I was sobbing for minutes>

I just never could get into MANOS. As for the hype of it being the worst movie they ever watched, if not the worst ever made, yes, absolutely that is true! However, as an episode, it's just average. The terribleness of the movie just brings down the entire episode. It's alright, and one of the better Joel episodes, but it just wasn't the amazing episode that everyone was saying it was.

Oddly enough, I loved Manos the first time I saw it. Yeah, I did too. Still think it's a good episode, but it's like thinking all Nirvana did was "Smells Like Teen Spirit", i.e.- that "Manos" defined MST, when I think the reverse is more the case.

Oddly enough, I loved Manos the first time I saw it. I got kind of sick to my stomach the first time I watched it. But when I watched the 6PM airing, I really liked it. It's definitely one that got funnier every time I watched it. Though the ickiness of the movie (esp. the soundtrack) has never made it a rewatch favorite. Though after season 6 and later episodes like Incredibly Strange Creatures, the idea that Manos is some sort of groundbreaking example of badness - as it seemed at the time - doesn't really hold water.
