Reports indicate Brian Singer is now attached to do a big-screen treatment of Battlestar Galactica for Universal. www.reuters.com/article/filmNews/idUSTRE57D0GA20090814There's obviously nothing solid right now about a script or storyline, but there are rumors floating around that this could be either a continuation of the original 1970s storyline or another whole re-imagining, separate from both the old and new series. I'm starting to understand how fans of the original series felt when they heard Ron Moore was planning a reboot of their favorite series. I can't imagine the show without the cast and story of the recently-ended series, but they ended that story so conclusively, I can't imagine what Singer would do with that cast. As a fan of the new show, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Frak that. We just had a great remake. Why do we need another one?

I think Universal is still trying to cash in in the franschise, but original series creator Glen Larson has had the film rights to BSG this whole time, but not the television rights. That's how Moore's version ended up on television despite Larson's stated dislike for the direction of the new show and why there was never a big screen version of the modern series – Moore and Eick couldn't produce one because Larson had the rights. So any big-screen adaptation, I assume, would follow Larson's old storyline from the original series. I'm no expert on this kind of stuff, I'm just rambling, here
