Same here. I do love the show and everything about it but it is not on my TiVo list. Kari is a particular favorite.....yeah baby. Everyone on that show "fits" I think.

My sweetums and I love the show, but we liked it better when they weren't running out of myths and frantically scratching around for enough material to fill an hour. The first season, they'd do three or four myths a show, and it was all well known urban legend stuff--"Baby on top of car", "Asprin and Coke get you drunk", etc. They'd have actors do little skits and "Urban mythology experts" on to explain the myths and how they evolved and what societal fears were reflected in them. But there's only so many of those to go around, and they had to start surfing the net a LOT and "revisiting" myths to come up with fresh material. They also added the interns to the show to include a bigger mix of personality and stretch things out a bit. ( Tory is SOOOO CUTE! Yes, my little cuteums, yes you are! Kari is adorable but should quit dying her hair before it falls out. Grant is the quiet hottie type. What the heck happened to Scottie? She was smokin' hot!)
So yeah, it's still a good show but the stretch marks are starting to become more evident.

There's really not a lot of TV out there right now that I like, but I love Mythbusters, and usually end up watching it even if I had seen the episode multiple times already. I liked it better in the earlier shows when they did whole myth segments before moving on to the next one and not cut back and forth between them like they do now, but I still think it's a great show. My favorites are usually anything that involves a car or any project where Jamie and Adam compete against each other. Good television. Adam: "That's not a bad shot, we got about two inches penetration." Jamie: "I generally like a little more."

Love this show. What Phantom complains about is valid, but it's just the producer's idea to keep the viewers around for more commercials. Notice now how Discovery has changed to include one last mountain of commercials, then roll credits over the ending just to keep you around for the next show? God, I hate commercials!!!
Having said that, sure, I have some critiques. My main one would be that they channel their results sometimes toward a desired goal. When stuff blows up, that's fun. When it's something like the "5-second rule" experiment, my question was, "What about the enzymes in your mouth & the acid in your stomach? What affect do those have on your cultures?"
Still, better than Lost or any of that other garbage out there, IMO.

Anybody catch the Archimedes one on tonight. I'm curious. This has nothing to do with Quest of the Delta Idiots, but I do have a certain interest in it.

I saw it. It was okay. A cool experiment, but it didn't seem like the best show they ever put together.
I really liked their explanation that by checking the timing of the written historical record in relation to Archimedes' life, they could reasonably determine the reliability of those records (i.e. over time, the "real" story became a fictionalized myth complete with mirrors and fire).
It seems like such a common sense approach to history, yet so many people think that some 20th century analyst knows more about what "really" happened than the actual eyewitnesses who wrote about ancient events.
Anyway, cool mirrors.

That's another thing that keeps me hooked to the show, Mr. Atari. Actual research!
I thought that could have been a much longer show, with more time on the fan rigs and all. And I felt bad for the NASA guy. But I'm really glad they revisited this one.
Next week-Helium Football!

I also felt terrible for the NASA guy. But as my wife pointed out, a lot of shows would have probably just cut him out of the program completely after his rig showed up broken. At least he still got in on the show, if nothing else. But I was excited to see his rig work, so that was a drag.
I do love the show, but does it bother anyone else that they show almost too much of what's "coming up after the break" before they cut to commercial? A lot of times it seems to me like they show that something works in the teaser before we get to see the rest of the show.
