I'm getting pretty bored with my music collection. So I'm asking all of you intelligent people (and Ratso) to recommend some new music for me.
So what one CD would you recommend to someone? Just pick one and tell us why.

The Cure - Disintegration
This band has always been one of my guilty pleasures. I've never really been into the whole "boo hoo I'm depressed and deep and you don't get me!!!!" type of Cure thingy... but I love their stuff regardless.
This album probably isn't an easy listen the first few times.... as it initially can feel a bit ponderous. That being said, it just oozes atomsphere and really grows on repeat listenings. Some of Robert Smith's most beautiful and well constructed work is included here: Plainsong, Pictures of You, Love Song, Prayers For Rain, etc. Probably the greatest rainy day background album I've ever heard.

Ok Go's Oh No isn't brilliant, but at times it is. I heard one song of their's from Music On Demand, with the coolest video I've ever seen. The song's called A Million Ways and it's the best part of the album. I bought their two albums based on that video and was a bit dissapointed by the fact that that one song is the best part about it, where the first album is really poppy and the second gets much better but still feels kinda poppy, compared to that one song. There are, however, some really good songs in Oh No, most notably they're softer songs. Plus their from your hometown Chicago, you Cub loving pizza eater. I found the video (kinda big file): boss.streamos.com/wmedia/capi001/okgo/amillionways/video/amillionways_v300.asx

I recommend nearly any album created by Weird Al, but since this is a message board on the Internet then it's probably a given that everyone here either has them already or at least knows people who have them. In the event that this isn't the case, definitely get his three most recent (Poodle Hat, Running With Scissors, and Bad Hair Day).
Along the same lines, pick up a Ray Stevens album. There's almost always at least one good song on his stuff (frequently, they all wind up being good). He was Weird Al before Weird Al existed, except he didn't do parodies.

I have 3. Of course many consider my style of music and "acquired taste"
OLD:
Master of Puppets - Metallica : Arguably one of the top Metal albums ever. Considered by most (myself included) as by far the best Metallica album. Front to back this album has no bad songs. They are fast, crunchy and musically well done. And anyone who doesn't think metal is music has not heard Orion (track 7).
Reign In Blood - Slayer: Considered one of the heaviest thrash albims ever. The whole album clocks in at just over 28 min....yep 10 songs in 28 mins. This album starts with "Angel of Death" and full on rips and shreds right through "Raining Blood" (a song that regained a bit of popularity by being a selction on one of the stations on GTAIII-Vice City)
NEW:
One Day Remains - Alter Bridge: This is the band that was Creed, ditched Scott Stapp and picked up Myles Kennedy (of Mayfield 4 fame for those in the Northwest). This was one of the BEST moves ever made. IMO this album is ten times better than any Creed album. Kennedy's vocal range is amazing and may seem out of place for the "heaviness" of the music and yet it seems to be a perfect fit for the band. The only bad thing I see is they do not get the exposure that Creed once had...it is a shame because a great band is sliding under the radar here in the States.

Meatloaf - Bat out of Hell (one of my favorites) Tom Lehrer - An evening wasted with Tom Lehrer, or Songs and More Songs by Tom Lehrer Charlie Daniels Band - The Best of the Charlie Daniels Band They Might Be Giants - Flood or (if you want to spend the money) Dial-a-Song: 20 years of They Might Be Giants.
Any of these I'd recommend. I know everyone on the planet has Bat Out of Hell, but it's still one of my favorites.
Tom Lehrer's stuff is funny, for cold-war humor and 50's and 60's social commentary. 'An Evening Wasted...' has song segues
The Best of the Charlie Daniels Band is good, if you like stuff like 'Stroker Ace' 'Long-Haired Country Boy' 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' or 'The Legend of Wooly Swamp.'
They Might Be Giants is one of my favorite bands. Dial-a-Song is a nice collection, providing you don't have all their albums.

What kind of music do you like, Atari?
If you have a wide variety of tastes I have plenty of stuff to recommend.

"American Idiot"-Green Day I'm just kidding, calm down! To be serious, I often go for classical music when I feel I'm in a musical rut. Tchaviosky is a favorite. I never get bored with all that percussion. I have a bizarre love of cover songs and often indulge in a run of them when I've got the doldrums. Thank heavens for Me First And The Gimme Gimmes. I'm just praying for that Elvis album... Tom Lehrer is a great suggestion. He's so unique and so fun. "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" still remains a favorite. The only other thing I could suggest would be to do what you're doing-ask around.

Just one? Why? Because it's great! I love that album too. I'd recomend Aqualung by Jethro Tull Live Rust by Neil Young, the best live album ever. Saint Dominic's Preview or Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
