So I finally decided and I got both "Out of the Blue" and "Time" by ELO, so Captain Hygiene, Wild Rebel, and sixofone should all be pleased.
I also got 2 that came highly recommended by other friends: Brian Wilson's "Smile" and the new Death Cab for Cutie.
That's 4 new albums, so I should stay awake until at least Omaha.
Thanks for all of your help, everyone. Even after our trip, I think I'll refer to this thread often.

I've heard an advance of The Flaming Lips' At War With The Mystics.
I like it very much.

I love his music also, just wandering which period do you like the best before The Joker album(great albums Number 5 , Brave New World) or after (Fly Like an Eagle, Book of Dreams).

hate love to bump this one, but I need to get my belated recommendations. What a song/album. One of the largest single rock songs ever, at over 43 minutes, this features brilliant instrumental work, some stunning lyrics, and some "not painful" vocals by Ian Anderson. Just getting the obligritary Pink Floyd in there, this one's the rock opera to end all rock operas. (Oh, so sorry, American Idiot.) One of the only rock operas with a thrilling, and at times heartbreaking storyline. Essential to any music collection.

I have all the "classic" Floyd from Meddle to Animals, but have yet to get The Wall.

Love Thick as a Brick and Jethro Tull for that mather, after 30+ years that album just does get old. Love The Wall also, not my favorite Pink Floyd album (Wish You Were Here or The Piper at the Gates of Dawn).
