Joel mentioned in an interview back in 89 they wanted to do "Mars Needs Women" for a possible season 2 of KTMA MST.
Most famously, the FVI version of "Charro" was originally slotted between Beatniks and Fire Maidens for season 4 (would've aired on Turkey Day, most likely!)
Originally for 624 was "Master Ninja III" made up of Master eps "Fat Tuesday" and "Jugger-naut".
Mike mentioned they were looking at "Day of the Triffids" during a pre-Season 8 TV Guide article.
Mike mentioned in the Masked Reviewer interview they tried to get "Baffled" at some point.
"From Hell It Came" was supposedly passed over for "Deathstalker" due to rights problems.
Kevin Murphy mentioned "The Land Unknown" in an online chat during the Sci-Fi era as a movie they were gonna do back in season 8, but didn't.
In the category of "movies they were offered but refused", there's "Child Bride" and "Terror of Tiny Town".
Anyone know of any others?

I know that Death of a Ninja 1 and 2 were originally listed in the Life Survival Kits as episodes instead of Master Ninja 1 and 2, but that was maybe just a typo.
Also, there was an episode list back in 1994 that said Beyond the Bermuda Triangle was an upcoming show.

I wish to god they had done Master Ninja III. It would've been awesome. But, Frank was leaving and he got to pick the crappy Mexican wrestling vampire movie instead. Damn Frank.
In the ACEG, Mary Jo lists movies they looked at for Season 7:
Ones they tried to get: -From Hell It Came -Starship Invasions
Ones they refused several times: -Terror of Tiny Town -Mesa of Lost Women
Others they looked at: -The Curse of the Doll People -Wild Guitar -Trog
...Damn Frank.

Sounds like it (though you never know what Film Ventures International was up to, maybe that was the name they were originally gonna release those compliations as?). Reminds me of the first KTMA list I saw way back in 95, before ACEG straightened everyone out. They had a different Thunderbirds movie listed ("Thunderbirds in Outer Space" which features the episodes "Sun Probe" and "Ricochet") and instead of "Cosmic Princess" they instead had Space: 1999's "Destination Moonbase-Alpha". And a movie called "The Chill Factor" in there, as well for the near end of the run.

From Hell It Came and Wild Guitar would have been gold.
I wonder if Joel could get the rights for "Mars Needs Women" for the Titans. To finally be able to tackle it after all these years...

I too wish they would have done Master Ninja III. I enjoyed the first 2, and would have loved to hear how Mike CC-era would have riffed another. I was never that crazy about the replacement choice; it's cool that Frank got to pick since it was his last episode, but it seems like a missed opportunity.
Given what I've heard about the movie, I can't believe they even bothered to view "Child Bride"; given the content, it's not even vaguely appropriate for the show, though they probably just weren't aware before watching it.

Based on the title alone, I was thinking that same thing. Perhaps they thought it'd be in the tradition of The Sinister Urge, where the "pornographers" take pictures of fully-clothed women *gasp* showing off their legs just below the knees!

starship invasions would have been an AMAZING episode. simply because it's an amazing movie. i think it's on youtube all the way through unless someone bothered to pull it, and you should all watch it, and be stunned.
starship invasions DOES actually have a great musical score.
i also would have like to see "the land unknown," that's a movie i like a lot (in a bad-as-good kinda way) and i also would have like to see master ninja III. i sorta like the van patton/wee van kweef thing.
i saw a stage musical version of "mars needs women" once. it was actually quite a lot of fun. i saw it in fort worth on a trip and the movie's set in houston so...

I think they would have done a great job with Wild Guitar. I actually have the movie on a bargain dvd (along with The Beatniks), and it begs to be riffed upon! Plus they would have Arch Hall Jr's ugly mug and wimpy voice; making comparisons to Eegah! would have been easy.

Trog, From Hell It Came and Wild Guitar all would have been amazing. There is an untapped wealth of bad movies out there that would have been perfect for MST. (I know because I've seen most of them...)

Neither Master Ninja's blew me away, I love the El Santo flick and the riffing was a riot, so losing MNIII doesn't disappoint. (good Frank Didn't they have another movie in mind for the movie, other than "This Island Earth"? I have a vague recollection that they couldn't get the rights for their first choice.

They wanted to do World Without End, which they had done for their 1992 live show. Fortunately, they'd also done This Island Earth as a live show at the 1994 Conventio-Con, so the transition probably wasn't that difficult. In fact, while we're on the subject, I believe someone out there has home video footage of that live TIE riffing. Has anyone ever bothered to compare it to MST3K: The Movie and see how much of it changed?

Terror in Tiny Town and The Masa Of Women? What was wrong with those two. I mean I get Child Bride <shudder> but those don't sound that bad.

I tell you, I looked-up this movie, and when viewing the screenshots, the pic of the robot rang a bell: I knew I had seen this movie before! I could remember nothing about it, but that screenshot told me I had seen it before. I must have only seen it once as a kid. So, I tracked it down and watched it yesterday. I found a copy from a European released called Project Genocide. Pretty entertaining, and not particularly awful. Oh, it's loaded with science-stupid, and really is just sort of full of holes, but somewhat enjoyable. Would have been great to see this with the MST3k treatment. It's right at 1:20, so likely no editing would be needed, and it contained no content that they would need to cut for naughty-bits, language, etc.

I remember Kevin mentioning somewhere that they wanted to do Night of the Lepus. I also remember hearing that Joel vetoed Plan 9 because of the excessive narration.
