Doing a screen capture from an DVD is the easy part. But when I try to "water" it down to avatar size, I lose a lot of detail. Yet I notice a lot of you guys have avatars that are pretty awesome and crystal clear sharp. Any tips?
I saw the thread below this where someone offered a ton of home made icons/avatars. Unfortunately, no Servos (at least no good ones that I could see.)

A couple problems I typically see are getting a screen capture from a homemade DVD, lower-quality video can make it difficult to change the size and get a clear image. Also, the method you're using to reduce the image (i.e. MSPaint vs Photoshop, etc) and the file format (e.g. .jpg vs .png) you're using can degrade the image quality.
How are you trying this, and do you have a particular image in mind?

I'm using Paint Shop Pro for the captures and the imaging. For my dry run, I tried doing a capture of Servo hosting the Shorts DVD, but any close up portrait of Crow would do, really.
Avatars can be .PNG format now? I didn't know that.
