Robert SchimmelOne of the first comedians to ever make me gasp. He'll definitely be missed. RIP

One of, if not my favorite, comedians I have ever seen. The first time I saw him was a HBO special he did years ago and my sides hurt for a couple of days I laughed so hard. I got a chance to see him live about 3-4 years ago and he was incredibly funny. I got a chance to speak to him briefly after the show and get my DVD from that HBO special signed by him and he was a very gracious person. And a few weeks ago I went to DC one Sunday for a baseball game with a couple of friends. On the way back home I popped in a CD of his and we almost had to pull off the road we were laughing so much. RIP Robert and my prayers are with you family and especially your daughter.

I always enjoyed his appearances on Howard Stern. He had quite the adventurous life.

Really bummed about this. He was funny, and judging from all the radio interviews and stories I listened to, a very warm guy with a great outlook on life. He (and his whole family) went through some serious turmoil, and it never got the best of him. RIP. If you don't know the story of his mother and her long lost lover during the Holocaust, look it up. www.amazon.com/See-You-Again-Betty-Schimmel/dp/0743403886/ref=pd_sim_b_7I remember him saying that the book was optioned to become a movie.
