I agree. The ending was epic. It was a good start. I'm still hoping they hit the gas, though. Ditto. The ending was well played. Now Rick and Shane have something else in common... they've both killed.

I enjoyed it too. I think Rick sent a very clear message to Hershel at the end of the episode. They need each other to survive. Whether or not they stick together is another matter. I don't see them hanging around the farm for too long. There have been times when it's felt stagnate already and the comic was always good about keeping them on the move. It just makes things more interesting while heightening the stakes.

I thought last night's installment was as good as any episode we've seen so far this year.
They picked right up with the tension at the bar. Rick as a character continue to intrigue me. I understood why he responded when those people called out into the bar, but the look on Herschel's face (and the camera pulling in on him) really ramped up the heartbeat on that one. Meeting new people in this new world seems interesting, or at least interesting things seem to happen.
More really strong dialog. Daryl and Carol (? - I forget her name) and their conversation was another well done one. The way she cringed waiting for him to hit her said a lot, as did Daryl not hitting her.
And of course, the final Lady Macbeth scene when Lori tells Rick what she thinks has to be done. Wow.
I know we're only two episodes back from break, but these last two are making it hard for me to wait a week until the next one. I hope they keep it up.

Yeah, ok. This calendar year I should have said season. I think they consider this the second season still, despite a huge break in the middle of it.

One thing I've noticed about this show is I don't think any character has ever said the Z word. Does anybody know if that's something from the comic book graphic novel? Maybe it's a specific thing they're trying to do to be different. But I'll tell you this, if the dead start rising and eating the living, people will call them zombies. It's engrained in our national psyche. They seem to avoid it so much it must be deliberate.

I think that was in the comic if I recall. They always called them walkers or geeks. It reminds me of a similar joke from Shaun of the Dead, where a character was discouraged from using the "zed word". I think the idea is that the situation is played as reality, so it's hard for people to own up to the fact that the dead have come back to life. If you told your friend you saw a vampire or a werewolf you would be laughed at. Call it a psychological defense mechanism.

OK but if this really happened people would say zombie. Bet your life on it. And I have come up with a great storyline for this show. They have never found out what caused the "zombie" apocalypse in the first place. So they should trace it back to the original walker and it's....Jerry Garcia! (walking dead, get it?) It turns out he was never really dead, just a drug infused zombie. So he rose out of the ground and started biting people. But they find out that the trick to survival is that tie dyed clothing is zombie Kevlar, they won't bite you with a tie died T shirt on. Pretty cool. huh?

I think they have been intentionally avoiding the word "zombie," but I'm not 100 percent sure.
• They're still at the farm, and I really, really think it's time for them to move on. Maybe they're saving it for the season finale, but they must be going for a record for time spent at one location.
• No Glenn or Daryl this week, although Daryl seems to play a prominent role in next week's episode. Looking forward to that.
• Thought Shane was dead, but he's kind of a lucky bugger.
Still good but they need to tighten it up.

Still good but they need to tighten it up. Yeah, a zombie apocalypse should be light hearted.

I'd call them Gomers. Because I can and they won't care.
The last two episodes were the best of the season.
