Lots of people are running mock drafts, lots of people are waiting with anticipation for their team to do well, and lots of people are reading Mel Kiper Jr.
And you know what?
I DON'T CARE!
[rant] This is the most overblown non-story in the sports calendar. Period. Every year, right at the start of the NBA playoffs, the NHL playoffs, and the MLB season, we sports fans get stuck with endless prognosticating about the off-season NFL. Hour after hour of ranking players- most of whom won't ever have an impact- whose names you won't even remember come opening day in September. 5 MONTHS AWAY!!
Note to ESPN: Stop pre-empting good programming with this crap, and stop building show after show, and segment after segment around guesswork and time-wasting ramblings about which team is going to pick whom. You're already ruining one of the best sports months every year with 3 days of pointless "coverage" of the actual draft (an event you invented like Hallmark invented Sweetest Day), for the love of Jebus, stop ramming it down my throat in the 3 weeks leading up to it, too!
[/rant]
Thanks. I needed to get that out of my system. What say you, sports fans?

This used to be a fun little distraction, I'd get together with other fans in Nashville, head to a bar and root for the guy we wanted.
But I tried to watch the draft pre-view the other day and I just can't. After the fiasco with those paid off dirty refs in the Super Bowl.... I just don't have it in me anymore. The NFL became no better that wrestling that day. They broke my heart and watching anything to do with the game is impossible.
I'm done. I've washed my hands of the crooked bastards.

It's all weird for me. I haven't had tv for a few months now, so I'm way behind on my sports. About a week ago I saw an MLB game being played on the television in a restaurant. I asked my dad if it was the pre-season now. He said that the regular season had been going on for quite some time.
My sports brain has atrophied.

I love the draft, especially since my Cowboys usually make it more exciting than their games. Last second trades, draft clock running out, it's all awesome. I however also hate mock drafts. It's like I don't think they are ever right after pick number 3.

The actual draft itself I'd watch, but everything leading up to it is just unnecessary.

Yay draft, a time where I can get excited and hope the Raiders will do something to help the team. Once my hopes are up then the team can crush them!! Oh how I love draft time!!!

Really, the only good thing about the draft is that it gives the fans hope for their team. All this pre-draft hype and rumor, though is really stupid. Each day teams are changing their minds: Will the Texans take Reggie Bush, is Jay Cutler better than Matt Leinart? If you're reading this and you happen to be a Texans fan, I'm sorry, but your team is run by a bunch of morons who don't have a clue. I don't hold out much hope for my Packers, who pick 5th and would do well to beef up their offensive line and their defense as well. I also think that too much stock is placed in tests that teams give athletes. I mean, Vince Young scores low on some test, and he's not a good QB? Did they not see his performance against USC in one of the best games I've ever seen(and I'm 37, and have been watching college football since the mid 1970's, so anything before that, I didn't see) I mean, come on. Every year there are busts from guys who are expected to do well, and surprises from the later rounds too. These people who hang on every pre-draft hype show or run their own drafts need to just calm down. I'm done with my rant now.

I personally don't care, but it's as close as football fans get to a spring training. Pre-season is boring since little's at stake for the players like there is during spring training. I can understand it as the only bit of football fun during the spring.

I don't much care about it. Too much hype. Despite free agent losses, in Bill I trust. Whomever the Pats choose perhaps will work out as well as Logan Mankins and Nick Kaczur did.

eh, its something to watch in mid april. I just hate waiting 5-6 hours till the Steelers get to pick but I guess you have to pay for your success somehow

Well, I watched it Saturday anyway, I can't say that I've checked it out today. I find it very interesting that most teams, including my Packers, went for defensive players. All I can say is that Reggie Bush is going to put people in the seats in New Orleans(or San Antonio, or wherever Benson wants to move them to, but that's a whole other rant). Found it interesting that Matt Leinart fell to #10 and that Jay Cutler was taken at #11, but that could just be me.

I've never bothered with the draft. I don't follow college ball so I don't know who any of them are anyway.

It's over, thankfully. Now I just have to hear a few months of speculation about why teams chose whomever they did, who won, who lost, etc.

I actually watched all 8 hours of it on Saturday and about 2 hours of it Sunday after work, it was just mesmerizing somehow

I watched the entire thing except rounds 4 and 6. I love it, phenominal I say. Also happy about my Raiders picking up a couple solid players on defense.
And my cousin got drafted in the 5th round to the Broncos......poor kid.
