Ebert agreed with studio execs that the movie should be cut down to 74 minutes. The execs at Gramercy probably had an orgasm when they heard him say that.
You can tell Siskel was a big fan of MST3K.

boll-yoo? is that how you say it? i've been saying it wrong all this time.
again with the assumption that mst3k is trying to attack the movies, which is actually sometimes true and sometimes not. ebert's saying the show's "target" is "cheesy sets and special effects" but the matte painting they're joking about is actually pretty damn cool and they compare it to dali, which is hardly an insult.
i'm actually quite an admirer of ebert, i think it's funny he has this reaction where he couldn't watch mst3k every week. i remember when i first discovered the show i really liked it, but i'd get antsy after about a half hour or so, i think because it's initially a challenge to try and follow the movie and the commentary at the same time if you're not used to it. after a while you develop a tolerance for it, sorta like booze!

boll-yoo? is that how you say it? i've been saying it wrong all this time. I think it's "bowl-loo". The pronunciation of Trace's last name has been debated a couple times. It doesn't help that the Brains themselves have different ways of pronouncing it themselves. Joel says "bowl-loo", Mike says, "Baloo". Kevin once said, "Bow-lee-oo".

Mary Jo pronounced it "Buh-Loo" in the Cinematic Titanic Wasp Woman release. Trace never corrected her. I had assumed that was the correct pronunciation.

Trace should just change his last name to Forrester and end the confusion.

And I second Ratso.
