Hi, I've been lurking here for ages, and finally registered today. After looking at the excellent Likelihood For Shout Factory Release List thread, I came up with the following thoughts about the first post-Gamera box set. I assume that an effort will be made to have the four episodes be well-balanced. So two Joel and two Mike episodes, with the two Joel episodes consisting of one Season One episode (to continue the established trend) and one post-Season One episode. The Mike episodes would preferably consist of one Clayton episode and one Pearl episode. Episode One: The only real choice would be 108 The Slime People, which is the only remaining Season One episode to be rated as "likely to be released." This would mean that each of the first nine episodes of Season One would have been released, by either Rhino or Shout. Episode Two: There are two episodes rated as "very likely to be released" among the post-Season One Joel episodes: 323 Castle of Fu Manchu and 412 Hercules and the Captive Women. Neither of these are great episodes, there are four episodes with only a "likely to be released" rating that I consider better than either of those two: 203 Jungle Goddess, 205 Rocket Attack USA, 403 City Limits and 502 Hercules. Any of those four episodes would be fine. Episode Three: There are at least seven episodes among the Mike plus Clayton episodes that are considered "very likely to be released." The best of them are 610 The Violent Years and 620 Danger! Death Ray. Either of those would be a good choice for inclusion. Episode Four: The two best of the four Pearl episodes rated as "very likely to be released" are 817 Horror of Party Beach and 913 Quest of the Delta Knights, both are clearly superior to the other two episodes with that rating, 819 Invasion of the Neptune Men and 1007 Track of the Moonbeast. Out of these episodes, my personal choice for a four-DVD box set would be: 108 The Slime People 205 Rocket Attack USA 610 The Violent Years 913 Quest of the Delta Knights all of which are among those considered likely to be released.

A very hearty "welcome" to posting on the board. And, I'm glad someone else started the thread about XXII because I've been tempted to; just figured it might be a little too soon. But it's never too soon to talk about new Shout! Factory releases. Nothing more exciting that going on MST3KInfo.com and seeing that new announcement. It sure looks like you have put a lot of good thought into the choices. Those are very reasoned picks. I might disagree with the inclusion of a couple of them but, the points are mostly valid. My best guess is as follows... 205 - Rocket Attack USA: This is an episode I put on my personal wishlist on the Shout! Factory message board back in 2008. Of the titles on that list of 9 out of 15 will have been released (this includes all 5 Gamera episodes, for XXI). I'm not claiming anything other than good vibes about my wish list from '08. 422 - The Day The Earth Froze: Considering XX is going to include the Russo-Finnish "The Magic Voyage of Sinbad" it would seem to almost be fait accompli that this one is in the pipeline. 610 - The Violent Years: Chris Cornell, who runs MST3Kinfo.com claims this is his favorite episode. And I know a number of MSTies who have this one in their personal Top Ten. It is an Ed Wood film, after all. And I believe it's Public Domain. Just a matter of time... 1007 - Track of the Moonbeast: Kind of a dark horse choice. I know some on this board are really fond of this one. Believe it or not it's one of the few episodes that I have *still* never seen to this day (all of those 'never seen' ep's are Sci-Fi era, long story). So there you have it, Mystery Science Theater 3000 XXII. I get so giddy about these boxes; it's so fun to experience them this way. Sometimes rewatching episodes for the first time in more than a decade is a real treat. Especially considering the quality of the releases, thus far. Viva la Shout! Factory!

Well not to put a damper but Violent Years isn't Public Domain. It's owned by the guy who owns Sinister Urge and Dead Talk Back (Which may be more promising seeing as Rhino was able to release them)
We probably won't find out XXII until the Gamera set is released, But here are my guesses anyway
Rocketship XM 201: It's the last Wade Williams Film that Shout hasn't released yet. I know Travis Lists it as unlikely, but Image entertainment was able to release the DVD in both the U.S. and Canada so Warner shouldn't be a problem with this one.
Sword and the Dragon 617: It's the Last film owned by Ruscico that Shout hasn't Released yet.
Brute Man 702: Its Owned by Image Entertainment and Films Around the World. Shout has already Liscenced Devil Doll From them so it should be an easy clear
Screaming Skull 912: It all comes down to whether they can clear that Gumby Short or not.
My guesses could change depending on who (if anyone) Master Ninja was liscenced from.

1007 - Track of the Moonbeast: Kind of a dark horse choice. I will buy this set as soon as it comes out if Moonbeast is on it. And that's a big deal, because I'm cheap. It's that great.

Welcome, Mongo. My picks, based on absolutely nothing (as usual) are:
Ep. 1: The Castle of Fu Manchu (I think they will skip a S1 episode this time around) Ep. 2: Attack of the Eye Creatures (have to include one "surprise") Ep. 3: Danger!! Death Ray Ep. 4: The Screaming Skull
Okay, that's more of a wish list than a guess list, but there you go.

Welcome to the board Mongo.
I've been racking my brain thinking about the possibilites for Vol XXII ever since the all Gamera XXI was announced.
201 Rocketship XM- It's listed as not likely, but I think Shout can get this one. It's a important episode, TV's Frank comes in and Kevin Murphy takes over Tom Servo. Movie's got Lloyd Bridges, riffing is good. If not I can take The Slime People instead
422 The Day The Earth Froze- We have gotten half of the Russo-Finish Foursome so far, just this and Sword and the Dragon left. I'd like to get this one next, its about time we got some SAMPO baby.
817 Horror of Party Beach- This spot is tough, I love this ep, ditto Neptune Men, I'd love to see Violent Years (haven't seen it yet) But Party Beach is so much fun. I'm looking foward to this being released. SODIUM!
1007 Track of the Moon Beast- This has become one of my favorite episodes, I love it. It's also in the Public Domain, so it's only a matter of time before Shout releases it. Johnny Longbow is a great character, love his stew!
There are plenty more episodes I'd be thrilled with, but this lineup would really make my day.

Not that mistrust the information, I have no reason to. But I think Shout! probably looks for opportunities to do a package deal here and there and they are atune to the 'important' episodes, if you will. After all, they want to sell as many units as possible.

Slime People Human Duplicators High School Big Shot Track of the Moonbeast
Just because I'd love this set.
Also: If I understood this correctly, they have the 2 Mike episodes locked in all ready, since they were bumped to make room for the Master Ninja's on the next set. (Though they didn't reveal what those 2 episode were at the time)

Cap Hygiene Johnson is right! I would say the riffing on this one is on par with the 'zenith' episodes Time Chasers and Space Mutiny.

Now that we have a reasonable listing of episode ratings, I have revisited this question. Assuming that XXII consists of the two highest-rated "extremely likely" episodes and the two highest-rated "very likely" episodes, then the box set would consist of:
610 - The Violent Years 624 - Samson vs. The Vampire Women 817 - Horror of Party Beach 903 - The Puma Man
So it would be an all-Mike box set.
Using the same logic (two highest-rated remaining "extremely likely" episodes plus two highest-rated remaining "very likely" episodes) for XXIII, it would consist of:
420 - The Human Duplicators 422 - The Day the Earth Froze 620 - Danger! Death Ray 1007 - Track of the Moonbeast
which would be a balanced set, with two Joel and two Mike episodes.

As I recall, Brian Ward from Shout! Factory did say for sure that the next set (after XXI) would not be an all-Mike box. Using the same logic (two highest-rated remaining "extremely likely" episodes plus two highest-rated remaining "very likely" episodes) for XXIII, it would consist of: 420 - The Human Duplicators 422 - The Day the Earth Froze 620 - Danger! Death Ray 1007 - Track of the Moonbeast which would be a balanced set, with two Joel and two Mike episodes. This would be a kick-ass box. The end of the 4th season, 418-424, is among the best run of 5-Star episodes. Along with 506-512.

I think Volume XXII will be a Gamera only boxset.

The all-Gamera box set is XXI. We do not yet know what will be in XXII.
