Our beloved characters have come and gone, and for the most part their episodes in which they did so were pretty damn good. Which one was the best?
I'm torn between Mitchell, Bloodlust, and Soultaker myself. You couldn't have asked for a better sendoff for Joel than Mitchell, Bloodlust is an underrated gem, and Soultaker is very memorable.
I think I'm going to give this one to Bloodlust, because I'm sure it's going to be ignored for the most part. Plus it makes me laugh until I can't breath.
* Chose to cut off KTMA because very few, if any of us, have seen the first three episodes. Since we can't properly judge them, I'm going to treat it as a separate series.
** Yes the production code is 104, but this is Josh's last episode both filmed and aired. It's the season one finale no matter what the production code says.

i've never been huge on mitchell, for some reason. although that scene when the gun falls down his pants is solid gold. and i'm iffy on crawling eye simply because i think it's actually a pretty cool movie. out of this list, i'd have to go with soultaker. i love everything about that episode.

i think my thing with mitchell is that the movie itself is just so blah. a 1975 drama about a cop who doesn't play by the rules taking on a drug kingpin. a prostitute with a heart of gold. an obligatory car chase with a mustang in it a la bullitt. i dunno, my eyes glazed over just typing that. and joe don baker gets too much credit for being bad, fat, repulsive, etc. i thought his acting job in mitchell was perfectly workmanlike, and i give it a B-minus. it has moments of awesomeness like when he berates that kid, but mostly, i just don't care. i'll take "final justice" over mitchell any day of the week. goosio! rampant, unforgivable misogyny! malta! go ahead on! gorgeous sidekicks who actually do all the work! mike tripping! hideously offensive sketches about womany maltese men! that's an ep that makes you sit up and take notice.
i know, i know. controversy! mitchell may be the most-loved episode of all time, but i never saw the appeal. i mean i think it's fine, but it's overhyped.

God, hard to choose, but finally went with Brain, because:
It just cracked me up, repeatedly, I had a freind who actually drove a Mercury Comet who loved that riff when I showed it to her,
It was Mike's first episode,
And it's where I first heard "Oh, thank you, God! Thank you so BLOODY MUCH!" at the time I had no idea it was from Fawlty Towers and just thought it was Crow spouting off, which made it even better. (I should pop this into fathermushroom's Pop Culture thread too!)
But I also adore Bloodlust and Samson Vs The Vampire Women. In fact, those three eps would make for a perfect weekend marathon.
Here, put this on, it'll keep you warm!

Mitchell.
While I hate to see any character leave a show. Especially the host of the program, Mitchell contains the most laughs.

I've never conisdered watching the same episode twice in a row. Accept for Soultaker. The last time I saw it I was just laughing. I was so close to hitting play again but I decided against it. Plus it has Joel and Frank's Return. What's not to like.
Oh and from now on Martin Sheen's Brother, Joe Estevez will be here-by referred to as "Martin Sheen's Brother, Joe Estevez."

I'm actually partial to Diabolik, just because of perfect and wonderful the final bits of the last host segment was. Beautiful.

I went with Laserblast. I think it's a much better "series ending" episode than Diabolik, even though it didn't actually end there. I like the host segs a whole lot better too, especially the one with Monad. And a very cool send off for Trace in the final segment. This was a tough choice though because I truly love Soultaker too.

Since there was no KTMA option. I Went with The Crawling Eye. However the KTMA season needs to be in this poll as well. No KTMA No National series!!!

Mitchell might have had my vote for the great host segments, but the movie itself was too damn lame.
So my vote goes to Brain That Wouldn't Die, even if it's slightly less significant to the timeline.

I voted for Diabolik. I'm in the minority that find this episode both watchable and a fitting end to the series.

I have strong sense memories tied to Mitchell - I actually missed it on TV (I was a youngin who was not afforded the luxury of setting my own appointment television, so I only got to watch MST3K when my dad happened to be watching and I simply never caught it), but I got to see it for the first time on VHS. I relished in the MST3K VHS releases - I had to rely on trips to Sacramento where the nearest Suncoast video was. I was in Junior High and regular trips to Southern California to visit family also meant excellent video shopping opportunities. I actually have stronger memories watching Mitchell on VHS in my Uncles house than I do visiting Disneyland; the actual reason we were in the area. I also remember watching Gorgo and It Lives By Night in that house when they premiered.
I actually bought Mitchell on VHS from Goodwill somewhat recently. Have it on DVD, of course. But that tape brings back wonderful memories.
