^ even though Tormented is not being considered in this list, I just wanted to chime in that Tormented holds a special place in my heart as well, being my first MST episode. and now, back to the list...

"Mitchell" is a classic, but slightly marred by some mediocre host segments.
I actually voted for "Rocketship XM" which is not only a wonderful intro for Kevin and Frank but the first "truly great" episode of the series imo.

"Mitchell" is a pretty damn good episode, and for character significance you can't beat the departure of Joel and the on-boarding of Mike.

You can't top Mitchell in this category. Everyone is on point and the laughs never stop. Joel went out in a blaze of glory with this movie. Joe Don Baker never knew what hit him and Joel left at the top of his game. Indomitable.

Well dern. I just realized I spaced on Gypsy when I made this poll. Otherwise Jack Frost and Agent for h.a.r.m. would have made the cut.
Poor Gyps. Didn't mean to exclude her, just kind of happenned. While it doesn't change my vote, I know MJ would have voted for Jack Frost for sure.

I went with Samson Vs. The Vampire Woman, from this list...
I thought that was a very strong experiment. The riffing was classic, the movie was bad, but not "nigh-unwatchable" and the host segments were decent. Torgo taking in TV's Frank was a good touch.
There was a couple others to consider here, such as Mitchel and Night of the Blood Beast (which I like as an overall experiement better than Samson...I just don't find Pearl nearly as entertaining as The Mads).

Gonna go with Diabolik. I love the episode and it's just such a great curtain call.
Mitchell is a grade A episode and is arranged great, but I prefer Diabolik. I also really love Mike's first episode.
I really hated how Trace's last episode ended though. The ending for the guys was alright, and the reference was cute, but it just bugged me.

i've never been huge on mitchell, for some reason. Me neither. There are several S5 eps prior to Mitchell, and "Gunslinger" for that matter, that are far superior IMO. From #505 "The Magic Voyage of Sinbad" through to #510 "The Painted Hills" there are some stellar Joel eps. If you force me to choose a fave Joel ep, I'd have to force a choice between #507 "I Accuse My Parents" and #509 "The Girl In Lovers Lane". Personally I believe the only reason "Mitchell" ranks so highly is the significance of Joel's departure. And normally I love 70s movies, but I really prefer 70s made-for-TV movies. I prefer "Codename: Diamondhead" to "Mitchell" since it has Ian McShane, a far superior actor to Joe Don Baker. From the list I would say "Samson vs. the Vampire Women" since it did devastate me that Frank was leaving. I would start to realize a bit later that the show was able to carry on quite effectively despite departures of that nature.
