Vapid "tributes" to 9/11 posted by semi-friends and relations.
One woman has posted no less than 12 different status updates, each sappier than the previous one.
I'm gonna go fly two remote control airplanes into her bedroom window.

I hate YOUR FACE!
And I just hate books in general. Facebook didn't stand a chance with me.

It's a scat fetishist hook-up site.
I'm the owner of the domain and administrator. We get eight million hits a month.

I am a proud American. I am very patriotic and occasionally jingoistic. I am GREATLY humbled by the sacrifices of our servicemen and women, and for those that gave their lives ten years ago today.
That said the 9/11 oversaturation is getting to me. It's everywhere on TV, radio and social media. It feels so self-indulgent.
It was a national tragedy and I will never forget what happened, but I'm sure neither would any other American. I don't need to be beaten over the head by it.

This whole tenth anniversary thing is pissing me off. People dusted off their flags and proudly placed them outside, and some asshole even put cardboard towers on his lawn. Ten years ago we had freaking jets flying over our homes and now people decorate like this is some kinda second rate holiday.

i actually incurred a bit of hate on FB (though not as much as i was expecting) when i put a status update telling everyone to STFU about 911 already unless they were actually there. which i wasn't, so maybe i was breaking my own rule by talking about 911 long enough to tell other people not to talk about it. but yes, i'm getting royally sick of the sacchariney 911 stuff, particularly because i can tell so often the people who are doling it out are actually getting a bit of maudlin pleasure from doing so.

NEVAR FURGIT.
Listen, I live a few hours from the city. A bunch of my family members went down and helped clean up (as volunteer firemen), and A few people I knew lost loved ones.
But I didn't. I know what happened. I saw it happening. Please, don't dredge it up, and if you do, don't do it so poorly it makes me want to plant a golf club in your skull.
