I haven't done a poll in a long time, so here's one.
A common genre of film on MST is the claustrophobia monster movie. You know the kind-- the protagonists are stuck on an island or in a basement or in a basement on an island, while the monster or madman or madman-induced monster is coming to get 'em.
It's a broad category, and there are probably more that marginally qualify. I also left off a couple that would skew the results (like "Pod People" or "Night of the Blood Beast"). The ones in the poll are the dreariest and least mentioned, so I thought it would be fun to consider them.

I went with Killer Shrews since not only do you have the dogs with carpet samples taped to their fur, but you also have James Best and Ken Curtis. Is death an option?

Crawling Eye for me, i have a big schpiel about why i think that movie's awesome that i'll spare you. But I'd also put "The Slime People" on that list. Also Pod People, with them being stuck in the house and all.

Horrors of Spider Island. For some reason, the whole dance party section at the end is just hilarious to me. But I'm kinda torn between that and Bloodlust, which I think I like more than most people.
And I understand the general boredom with Unearthly, but that's one that works for me. I really like the low-key episodes, a lot like the first season, just for a nice mood. Even if they aren't hilarious, they seem perfectly appropriate.

Nice set of choices. It's Bloodlust for me. Aside from Mumms and myself, I don't think many people like that one. Perhaps my fondness for it has to do with having read Most Dangerous Game not all that long before seeing it for the first time. Then again, maybe not. Honorable mention for Terror and Spider Island.

Weird thing about "Most Dangerous Game": I was teaching that in high school when I got back into MST3K, and Bloodlust was among the Rhinos that I rented at a local cult video store for my first fix. Maybe that's the reason...

I really enjoy The Crawling Eye. It's a fun Saturday afternoon movie that I would watch unriffed. I also like The Deadly Bees more than most people. Once you get into the Britishness of it, it's a pretty watchable movie.
I can't stand The Unearthly and The Atomic Brain. There's just something about the monstrosity of the films that gets under my skin. Sadly, this is the type of movie that Cinematic Titanic seems to be stuck on.
Bloodlust and The Killer Shrews have nostalgic value to me, as I remember seeing both episodes at viewing parties in college in the '90s. Now, they are tough to get through for me, due to their slow dreariness.
Horrors of Spider Island is one I can enjoy from time to time. But on the whole, season 10 just doesn't do it for me as much as other eras. I feel like they really stumbled to the end.
So I went with Terror from the Year 5000. I can't remember why my memory puts a positive connotation with that title, but it does. And who am I to argue with my brain?

I like Horror of Spider Island for exactly one reason, and one reason only, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

"Wow, you really don't know where to start, here."
Actually, it's the shocking plane crash footage. Really took guts for them to go with the stark, gruesome realism approach there.

I love Bloodlust. It makes me laugh and laugh, and the use of one corridor to simulate an entire mansion wouldn't be matched until Devil Doll.
I love Horrors of Spider Island for its rendolent insanity and women who can whip up the sexy with nothing but some bikinis, flowers, moss, one bottle of whiskey and a cheap transistor radio. Those girls had skills.
But I voted for The Unearthly, for its classic, unmatchable line, "TIME FOR GO TO BED!"
Well said!

i don't remember who did it, but i still have that Tor motivational poster someone did for a contest a few months ago, "BED: It's What It's Time For Go To." that was genius.

I think I need to rewatch some of these. Maybe Bloodlust tonight and Spider Island tomorrow, and see if my vote will change.

Tough call between "Deadly Bees" and "Horrors of Spider Island", but I ultimately went with "Spider Island". I think it has the most consistently funny riffing.

I don't care what anybody else thinks, I really like The Unearthly. There, I said it, and I'd say it again too.
