Good luck! I found the first-time experience to be underwhelming, but extremely interesting nonetheless.

I found the KTMA episodes a fun experience. My only real complaint is they go on stretches where the movies are too similar to each other, making watching the full season somewhat monotonous. I like the old B&W flicks, which KTMA was unfortunately lacking in.

Good luck, the KTMA episodes are the ones I like best. That's like saying The Decca Auditions is your favorite Beatles album.

STrength, Courage, and Hi-Keeba I've seen a bunch of them, including a few that were redone much better for Comedy Central. The quality of the riffing is very uneven as it was all improv'ed on the KTMA shows, but it was still fascinating to see how it all started. There's one KTMA episode that's managed to make it into my regular rotation, and that's episode 013, SST Death Flight, which I went into in a bit more detail in another thread recently. Long story short: the riffing really hits it, and the movie is one of those classic '70s made-for-TV disaster dramas that's like a dumping ground for has-beens and never wases.

That's like saying The Decca Auditions is your favorite Beatles album. [/b][/quote] Funny you'd mention that. About fifteen years or so ago, the BBC released a really excellent boxed set of the Beatles' performances on the BBC, digitally restored, starting in 1962 and ending around the time "Help!" was released. The '62 stuff was the most interesting to listen to. The '62 recordings sound really raw, almost as if they were done with a microphone in front of a radio, but it's really fascinating stuff, apparently the only existing recordings of the Beatles with Pete Best on drums.

KTMA is just too terrible for me to stomach, to be honest. Though there was, i believe, a Soviet-era one with this kinda creepy girl I remember seeing and i wished i could get ahold of the unrffed movie because it looked interesting to me.
There are a bunch of first season episodes I happen to like a lot, like The Crawling Hand, Women of the Prehistoric Planet, Moon Zero Two, and Robot Holocaust...
but what pisses me off most about the earlier seasons is how they tended to be pretty shockingly racist toward Asians, Japanese people especially.

That would be Humanoid Woman, a highly edited Sandy frank import of the Russian Through Thorns to Stars/To the Stars By Hard ways. i've been wanting to see the non-Sandy Frank version myself too.

While the KTMA era can be a bit rough, I don't think that it's as bad as it's reputation. I've been waching them all from K04 (I'm on K16 at the moment) and I've had a few good laughs here and there. That's not saying that It've been a walk in the park. There are a ew stinkers and the standard reaches levels of "mildly amusing". But, I find a certain charm in thier simplicity and care-free "we're just here to have fn attitude".
A personal recomendation is Gamera VS Gurion. It's not as epic as the season 3 episode, but it's still funny in it's own right.

Pablo Honey is my favorite Radiohead cd. After that their stuff falls a bit flat.

The original cut, unedited, un subtitled- of Cherez Ternii k Zvezdam www.veoh.com/watch/yapi--sgX_iygPf0 (part 1) www.veoh.com/watch/yapi-htzdvGHLfhs (part 2) About a year or three ago there was a subtitled version someone put on veoh that i downloaded. I own the PAL dvd of the 1981 version (no subtitles) , and acquired a copy of the 2001 20th anniv- re-edit. I also found on ebay the uncut humanoid woman sandy frank edit. feel free to pm me with any questions

I'm trying to watch MST3K from start to finish. I only own six KTMA episodes and that's fine by me. I just watched Phase V and Cosmic Princess and there is very little to enjoy. Sure its neat to see the humble beginnings but that novelty runs out quickly. Then your left with lame jokes and a crummy movie. I love MST3k, I really do but KTMA and season one are unbelievably raw and its hard to imagine it would evolve into the masterful show it did.

...I love MST3k, I really do but KTMA and season one are unbelievably raw and its hard to imagine it would evolve into the masterful show it did. I'm with you on the KTMA shows (Season 0), though if you've followed my posts here at all, you know that I can't say enough good things about Episode 013, SST Death Flight. I agree only partially on Season 1, though; even though Weinstein's performance as Servo is kind of weak and his "Larry" character is kind of annoying, there are still some really inspired episodes in Season 1: Women Of The Prehistoric Planet, The Slime People, Project: Moonbase, and Robot Holocaust. I also think the Commando Cody shorts are a real treat; I found some really clean rips of those shorts on their own on YouTube, downloaded them and have them set up in a playlist in VLC Player so I can watch them all back-to-back, the entire Radar Men From The Moon epic from start to finish -- or at least until the film breaks.
