Any plans/recommendations for Halloween viewing?
I was planning to get into my Jack Carpenter box set and watch "Halloween," "The Fog," "The Thing" and "Prince of Darkness" (not his best film, but creepy and I haven't seen it for a while)
Other old favorites I might get around to:
"Dawn of the Dead" (original) "An American Werewolf In London" Dario Argento's "Phenomena"

The original Halloween, for sure. It's coming back to the big screen and I hope to see it.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre(original)Scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it, and it's still really spooky.
The Exorcist--one of the few horror movies my parents wouldn't let me see as a child. Finally got to see it as an adult.
Demons. Creepy movie about kids in a movie theater who, while watching a movie, unleash the demons who plan to take over the world. Part of a trilogy, but personally I like the first one the best.

I'm going to the theaters on wednesday to see a TCM hosted double feature of Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. In addition to that, Universal's blu-ray box set of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, Phantom of the Opera, and Creature from the Black Lagoon should be landing on my doorstep any day now. I'm especially anxious to see the 3D version of Creature.
Other than that, I haven't made any plans. John Carpenter's Halloween is a yearly tradition of mine, though.

Star Trek IV. Seriously, I usually do a Star Trek or Star Wars marathon.
Zombie movies are for Thanksgiving and slasher flicks are for Christmas.

I use October as an excuse to watch as much horror as I can, and subject others to it as well. So far this month I've watched:
Friday the 13th parts IV-VIII Creepshow 2 The Evil Dead Withcboard Halloween I and II Sleepaway Camp 1 and 2 The Innkeepers Silent House Intruders Sinister Childs Play Motel Hell Mother's Day (2011)
I plan on watching a whole lot more. Besides Halloween I and II, there are no movies I make a ritual of watching during the season. A lot of it is what I am feeling, or what is on AMC's Fear Fest and other cable stations. I usually have it on in the background at home.
Oh yeah, I re-watched Cabin in the Woods, and it's still awesome. This is a movie that will be in my horror rotation for a long time to come.

I go nuts with horror in October as well, although I got a late start this year. It's been around 90 degrees every day, making it tough to get into the Halloween spirit. I just made a pile of stuff to watch, and it's looking a tad ambitious with less than two weeks to go.
So far, I've seen Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Young Frankenstein, the Faculty, Nightmare on Elm St, and Alien. In the watch list are
American Werewolf in London 28 Days Later Bubba Ho-Tep Children of the Corn Evil Dead 1-3 Night of the Living Dead Dawn of the Dead Dawn of the Dead (remake) Event Horizon The Fog Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Halloween The Howling Interview with the Vampire Invasion of the Body Snatchers the Omega Man Shaun of the Dead The Shining Suspiria The Terminator The Thing

I'll be watching a few mentioned already. But I really like this movie, no one-lines, no distracting 70's or 80's music score and no Joe Don Baker, Just suspense and scares. But it does star Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island. As they say based on a true story.
I should also mention this one. Since it is the original movie. I saw this in the theater when I was 11 and it was pretty scary then. Glad that I saw it with my dad and didn't have to walk home from the theater. We lived in a very small town at the time but I remember kids in school the following Monday saying how scared they were walking home. Even though it was probably a 3 to 6 block walk

Watched a few that I didn't have on my list
Evil Things-- a group of five friends runs afoul of a stalker who follows them up to a weekend house and makes their life a living hell.
Grave Encounters--Lance Preston and his group of paranormal investigators go to a haunted asylum and find more than they bargain for as the spirits won't let them leave.

Man I've really been cramming them in at the zero hour. Lately I've watched: Scream 1 & 4 Evil Dead I & II Halloween 4 & 5 The Sender Pieces Slugs Frankenstein Dracula A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare My Bloody Valentine (original and remake) Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight Don't Go In The House Dog Soldiers 28 Days Later Fright Night (with a sweet bootleg commentary) Near Dark Creepshow Dawn of the Dead (original) Some of these I just watched because they were on cable, not because they are classics or favorites. Saved Dawn of the Dead for tonight (right now) because I love it. Sad that the season's already over. Happy Halloween All! End of the year is knocking at our door. ^courtesy of CBG

Saved Dawn of the Dead for tonight (right now) because I love it. I watched that Tuesday, such a great film. I might extend my horror viewing a few extra days this year, because there's a lot I didn't get to. Tonight I went with Halloween and The Fog. I love how simple and beautiful The Fog is. There aren't many directors other than Carpenter who could have made that story work.

I know it isn't a "horror" movie but I went with "The Burbs". I have always loved that movie. I couldn't stay up late as work has been beating me down.

It's sort of a domestic horror, the real life spooky house that every kid's afraid of.
I could watch Bruce Dern falling off his house all day long.

It always makes me laugh when he chants..."I want to kill everyone. Satan is good, Satan is our pal".
