You're right about how the Phantom Menace Rifftrax rather felt like it was just Mike and Kevin just getting angry at a stupid movie. It's not the most fun to watch. But it's actually the Episode III Rifftrax that gives me more trouble, even though it's funnier, because the jaw-dropping idiocy of Annie Skywalker is so infuriating that I want to hurl things at the screen, jokes or no jokes.

I am not as familiar with the rifftrax because its been so long since I've watched any of them, but I've seen a few.
I have to agree with you guys about the new Star Wars series, especially Episode I. Those movies are so bad to watch that even the riffing can't save them. It's a shame too, because I liked Star Wars growing up.
The Wicker Man with Nicholas Cage was pretty hard to get through too, though I must admit, the pace did pick up a bit at the end, when Nick Cage went around punching women in the face. But that movie was just so awful, dismal, and with a depressing ending to wrap it all up. The riffing only made it marginally easier to finish.

"Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny". Your point is valid on the blockbuster films, but I could barely fathom watching that with the Rifftrax; it's that bad a movie-I feel it surpasses even "Manos". I have a loss of hope that has yet to regain after watching it.... Still laughed, but It was a dead-inside feeling. I couldn't have said that better myself. That was one bad movie. Out of the films I've seen riffed by RiffTrax, this is worse than Birdemic.

I can barely make it through "Ice Cream Bunny" "Tourist Trap" and "Bermuda Triangle", and every once in a while I forget why I don't watch one of these, and put it in the player. Before it's over I remember why I don't watch them, and put them away until the next time I forget. Didn't really enjoy "Puppet People", "Supersonic Man" "Night of the Lepus" and "Frankenstein Island" all that much, but I need to give each of them another shot. "Guy from Harlem" is absolutely painful--I feel bad for the actors--but I never seem to remember why I rarely get all the way through it--until I watch again. Night of the Living Dead"--classic or not--is just too much of a downer for me to really enjoy either way. They've done Night three different times and in my opinion they've been defeated--or at least slowed down--every time. That movie is a real time version of having a stroke.

I had forgotten about Maniac. I watched it one and a half times but the second time I couldn't get through it. The first time I wasn't even paying attention. But the second time through, it defeated me and I couldn't even finish it. I just saw it a few days ago (hulu has it for free!) and personally, I loved it. It was amazingly funny to me.

For me, it's "Dragon Wars". The riffing is good, but the movie really annoyed me. As I noted in another thread, it was a combination of "heroes" who shirk their responsibilities while risking others' lives, good Higher Powers who do next to nothing to help and are utterly unconcerned with the "heroes" plight, villains who are utterly dominant, and an empty ending. For the most part, I was too ticked off to enjoy the riffing.
Regarding the "Star Wars" prequels, I enjoyed them a lot, though I know they aren't perfect. But if, as it seems from the comments, the Rifftrax versions are basically little more than prequel hatred, I think I'll give them a pass. The movies don't justify it.

Frankenstein Island. I realized I was checking my email, reading message boards; doing anything other than watch this turd. Then Mike Nelson grabbed my attention with "I just had a terrible thought. What if I die in the next few minutes and this is the last movie I ever see?"
Afterwards, I looked up the movie and found it was made by Jerry Warren, director of Wild World of Batwoman. The agony of Frankenstein Island finally made sense to me.

Batwoman herself; Kathrin Victor. Turns out... she also acted in Frankenstein Island! Frankenstein Island Sheila Frankenstein von Helsing (as Kathrin Victor) www.imdb.com/name/nm0896124/?ref_=tt_cl_t1It also credits her as a guest star in one episode of "The Andy Griffth Show". She's also did a ton of continuity work on 1990s Disney TV cartoons like Tail Spin.

has anyone mentioned battlefield earth yet? i only made it to the end of that one out of respect for rifftrax for what they must have gone through with it. i'll never repeat that one, phew.
and it's funny - all the ones who have mentioned ice cream bunny - i felt that way when i first watched it too, but now it is one of my favorite trax - i have no idea why. it's just so absurd. same thing with the star wars holiday special. i love that one mostly for the old commercials that were included. by the time we get to princess leia's caterwauling, i'm ready for it to end. but there was good, deserving riffing in that one.

I haven't seen their take of Revenge of Dr. X yet. I've seen it unriffed and it's one of the worst movies I've sat through. I am just afraid their jokes won't be enough for me to survive it.

I feel like Samurai Cop is one of the more watchable bad movies they've riffed.

I recall not finishing the Firewall 'trax on account of the movie being too... dull.

I'm also behind on my watching, but I'll echo everyone that said Battlefield Earth. That thing was unbearable, and the riffing was just barely strong enough to get my group through. Honestly, there's nothing good about that movie, and I'm someone who actually read the book and didn't think it was too bad.
I'd rather watch Santa and The Ice Cream Bunny. No lie.
