www.grammy.com/nomineesi normally avoid award shows like the plague, but i did watch much of last night's show, once i learned mumford & sons were gong to perform. i was so happy they won album of the year, because i have nearly worn my copy of babel out. one of the best songs was the weight, done after the memorial. elton john, mumford & sons, mavis staples, brittany howard, zac brown and t bone burnett. here's a clip i wish the tribute to dave brubeck had gone on a little longer - he deserved at least that, but the trib to bob marley wasn't bad. idk...felt a little too forced and fast - that isn't what i think of reggae. jack white was awesome - i thought he kinda got screwed, but i think a LOT of musicians and performers get screwed at the grammys. it was cool to see the lumineers as well. like m&s, they don't use the theatrics and production (i'm talking to you, taylor swift) others did. and i take any chance to see prince. i'm sorry, but i just love the little guy. not sure if the cane was a fashion thing or if he has a little touch of the gout or something, but he's always fun to look at.

I gave up on the Grammys when they nominated Pink Floyd as "heavy metal" band of the year.
...and I gave up on all other awards shows when I started working in the business.

yeah, like i said, i usually don't watch the award shows. for the most part, they are a total sham. and also - they bore me to death. but it was cool to see some of the performances. and since my favorite album won the big prize, i'm glad i tuned in.
