I love the old man walking into the spike trap in Hercules Against the Moon Men, all of Hobgoblins, all of Mitchell, all of the rock climbing from Lost Continent...just kidding about one of those. Hey, kid if you want, but I actually have a kind of perverse love for the rock-climbing scenes in Lost Continent -- or, more accurately, Joel'n'the Bots' reactions, the way they rip those scenes a new one and use them as a short seminar in how not to make a movie -- how not to write, act, and edit. I had a hard time with Mitchell for a few reasons: Joel's last episode, which was kinda' sad; the fact that the movie didn't seem quite bad enough; and that scene with Mitchell getting it on with Linda Evans, with a bottle of baby oil on a nightstand in the shot. Oh, if only the whole movie had been that bad.

Dennis should have been one of the main characters. Just ditch the prologue & it's ludicrousness and have Dennis be the sole casualty as a main character in the main story. And err... what, did he leave Dennis's dead body in the vault for the hobgoblin's to feast on? And why didn't they escape when he went in? When McCreedy discovered him dead, the door was wide open. Kevin apparently didn't notice a dead, rotting body in the vault so that means McCreedy did something with Dennis's body... but what? Or did the hobgoblins completely eat him, bones and all? Any scene with Baba Yaga in JACK FROST! She's hilarious! Ah yes! She's awesome! She's a maniac! Maniac!

That's the ludicrousness I was referring to. I'm surprised M&TB didn't riff anything about it. Another missed opportunity.

In terms of scenes that I legitimately enjoyed, the original "Idiot Control Now" song in Pod People. Yes, the near-unintelligible lyrics and such are pretty cheesy, but personally I think the song itself is rather catchy...in a equally cheesy sort of way.If someone played this on a jukebox, I'd probably rock 'till I'd drop. Don't be too embarassed. For some perverse reason, I really dig the "Creeping Terror Twist", from the Creeping Terror dance hall scene. I've also actually gone out of my way to find a full-length unriffed version of the "Night Train To Mundo Fine" theme from Red Zone Cuba, sung by John Carradine. What can I say? I really dig 'em somehow. What's worse, I'm still poking around YouTube trying to find an unriffed copy of Danger: Death Ray, so I can rip myself a "clean" copy of that bop-ah dop-ah dah dah theme.

I feel the same about many songs in different films. I really dig these two in particular (unriffed):

I'm that way with "California Lady" from Track of the Moon Beast. The song has actually grown on me and I've listened to it by itself (off YouTube of course). Should I mention I actually like The Eagles? (I could go the rest of my life without hearing "Hotel California" or "Peaceful Easy Feeling" again, though.) I don't think "California Lady" sounds too Eagles to me, though--more Glen Campbell.

For the record, I enjoy the Mighty Jack, Fugitive Alien and Gamera films like one enjoys good/bad Godzilla films. They're incoherent sometimes but they do have rather incredible special effects and model work IMO. It's not STAR WARS/TREK quality, sure, but it is fun to see for that alone.
The Skydivers is surprisingly watchable for me as well despite nothing of much interest happening and the script going out the window. As a film though, it's got some interesting aerial scenes and solid acting but lame character development that also works against it.
Last of all, the inappropriately inserted jazz theme and end song "You Better Run-n-n-n!" in Final Justice are great. It's a shame that the movie didn't have a likeable protagonist and wasted the otherwise talented Joe Don Baker.

The scene in Godzilla vs. Megalon where Godzilla slides on his tail and slams feet-first into Megalon.

A whole lot of the Russian fantasy films are jam-packed of great stuff, especially Jack Frost.
That scene near the end of Santa Claus where St. Nick's been treed and Pitch is gloating about how good doesn't triumph over a sleeping Lupita... in a film full of cartoony crazy there's a real moment of menace there.

The scene in Godzilla vs. Megalon where Godzilla slides on his tail and slams feet-first into Megalon. Oh, jeezus. As if the rest of the climactic fight scene wasn't silly enough, that shot totally broke the Goofy Meter.

The fight scenes in Danger Death Ray look pretty visceral and realistic to me. I dig them.

I'll admit it: a lot of Mitchell is I think reasonably entertaining, if cheap and made-for-TV, filmmaking. In particular the fight between Mitchell and Merlin Olsen at the end is pretty brutal and effective, although I suspect it was cut somewhat for the MST3K edit cos there are a couple of confusing edits. On the other hand there are 20 mph car chases. And baby oil. And Hot merging action!!!! Any time I can feel sympathetic for a character in one of the movies, I feel it's a win. I just recently saw Teenage Crimewave for the first time, and I'll admit, the scene where "Hero" contemplates taking the riffle and ending their "nightmare" actually had my heart pounding. There was also a few scenes in Kitten With a Whip that did the same thing to me. I actually like the music from Girl in Gold boots. It's definitely not from my generation but I like it, it's pretty catchy. Moon Zero Two is pretty entertaining itself. I like the scenes in Mitchell when they'd start playing the "3M" music. For some reason that did something for me.

The soundtrack for Girl in Gold Boots is online if you google it. I liked it too.
