Spoiler Note: If you plan to watch the new Arrested Development eps and you want to be surprised, stop reading now.
On the 5th episode of the new season of Arrested Development, one of the characters featured starred in a cheap, quickly done Fantastic Four movie in the past.
They show a clip from the movie, and surprise, who should be at the bottom of the screen but the familiar silhouettes of Joel (yep, Joel) and the bots. Even more surprising, Joel and Trace's Crow throw out a couple of riffs. I checked the end credits, and both Joel and Trace are credited (no Servo of any type, though), so they did record some new lines for the episode. Pretty cool cameo.

Holy crap what? I have to see that episode immediately! Also I think this could've gone in the Arrested Development thread I already made, but I'll let it slide.

Sorry, didn't know about the thread when I made this one (don't really spend much time in the off-topic forum). I assumed that since it was MST3K-related, it should have gone in here.

Was going to make a topic earlier, but was too busy watching season 4.
I can add an update, MST3K makes another appearance in episode 9 and they briefly riff another fake b-movie.

Just saw the MST3K part in episode 5 for myself.
So awesome. I like AD even more now.

Always nice to see cult TV referencing cult TV. Remember when MST3K was on Futurama?
Hey, maybe Netflix could back a few new MST3K episodes? ;D Y'know, considering how the Entertainment-Industrial Complex just got a big bug up its ass and yanked upwards of 2000 titles from the Netflix library -- including every MST3K episode except for The Movie -- that might not be such a bad idea. Ironically, that might be a great post-CT project for Joel & Co. With all due respect to Josh, though, I'd want them to at least try and get Murphy back to voice Tom Servo. As I first got into MST3K late in Season 2, Kevin Murphy will always be Tom Servo to me.

I just want to see Joel & Mike bury the hatchet and actually consider working together on something. (Note: I have no idea if there's any hatchet. I've just always found it sad that the Brains seem to be split into two distinct camps. Even the fans rarely clamor for a co-riff from the two leads anymore. I wonder if we've just resigned ourselves to the idea that it'll never happen because of a perceived icy relationship between the two. Maybe Netflix could make it happen.) As for the thread, I didn't know the scene was coming, so I shouted out loud when I saw the Shadowrama in episode 5. I had to replay it a few times to actually hear the riffs over my own hyperventilating.

I'd love to see the Corman Fantastic Four get riffed. I don't imagine it's really all that worse than the recent film, thought it's certainly much much cheaper looking. But then there are all sorts of horrible comic book adaptations out there from the past, good old-fashioned cheese: the Albert Pyun Captain America, the Reb "Blast Hardcheese" Brown "Captain America" before that, the later Christopher Reeve Superman movies.

Wow, a Corman filck from 1994? Damn, I thought he was dead -- but according to Wikipedia, he's apparently still alive and kicking at 87.

There is no beef between Mike and Joel.
In fact, Joel has stated the reason he's leery of a Joel/Mike team-up riff is because he feels nothing they could do could live up to the hype of it. Also, he doesn't like the way Rifftrax is produced where they record the riff separately, instead of doing it all live.
