By 'Troika' films, I'm speaking of the various Russo-Finnish movies featured on the show throughout the years: The Day the Earth Froze, Magic Voyage of Sinbad, Sword and the Dragon, and Jack Frost. My favorite is "Voyage", with the caveat that I've never seen "Earth". What's your favorite?

Well, I haven't seen The Sword And The Dragon, and never could get all the way through The Day The Earth Froze or Jack Frost, so I guess I'd have to say Magic Voyage Of Sinbad, only because it's the only one I could get all the way through... but maa-aan, was Sinbad ever a great, steamy load of Hypno-Helio Static Stasis. Talk about a plot not even Tolkien could follow -- jeezus...

I've not seen "Sinbad" yet and I've only seen "Frozen Earth" once. So, I'd have to say that "The Sword and the Dragon" is actually my favorite of the "Troika" films. It strikes me as a very competent and enjoyable film. I would actually consider getting a MST3K-less version of the dubbed film.

The Day the Earth Froze is one of my favorite of all MST3K episodes. So many memorable lines; a catchy song ("Failure, failure, failure!"); a dead-on imitation of Garrison Keillor "Prairie Home Companion"; and, as a tasty garnish, one of the best of MST3K shorts, "Here Comes the Circus", which prompted a really funny host segment where Servo and Crow are coming up with their own circus act ("This act begins normal, you and me beating the crap out each other...")
The Magic Voyage of Sinbad is in that kind of second tier of episodes for me, the ones that I'll rewatch now and again but which don't rise to the level of favorites. One of the amusements the episode gives me is looking for the (not very well hidden) political subtext. Mostly it's just goofy fun.
The other two episodes I just don't watch too often. I think it's because the films drag them down a bit too much. The Sword and the Dragon is too dour; Jack Frost just makes me want to smack all the characters around, they're so annoying and offputting.

"Dragon" doesn't have enough camp elements to make it enjoyable (with the exception of the Wind Demon) and Jack Frost always loses me when we meet Hunchback Fairy. Edit: Just watched "Day the Earth Froze" on YouTube. Had its goofy moments but "Voyage" still takes the prize for me.

I'm surprised Jack Frost hasn't gotten any votes. I find it to be the easiest story to follow and I actually saw it when it aired, so I can't help but look at it through nostalgia goggles.

I love Jack Frost. My niece got the un-MST version for Christmas last year when she was four. She has Barbies that she named Nastinka, Marfuska, and the Stepmother. She also likes to pretend we're characters and we act out scenes from the movie.

In order from favorite to least-favorite:
1. Magic Voyage of Sinbad (actually, in my Top 3 favorite episodes ever!) 2. Jack Frost 3. The Day the Earth Froze 4. Sword and the Dragon (I find this one to be the only one that is a chore to get through.)

My favorite is "Voyage", with the caveat that I've never seen "Earth". What's your favorite? Well, I've got to go with The Sword And The Dragon. It's the only one whose plot doesn't move at a glacial pace, which actually has a fair amount of action, and which contains the least amount of Hypno-Helio Static Stasis. Not to disrespect the quality of the riffing in the others, but it's the only one I could actually get through with a minimum of discomfort.

I vote Jack Frost, mainly because I've owned it longer then the others and have watched it more. The others seem a million hours long.
Finnish House Part-ay!

As I've said before, Jack Frost. Best episode of the series for me. There is nothing as smart and beautifully written and drop dead hilariously funny as the riffing in Frost.
After that Sinbad (also in my top 10). Third is Sword of the Dragon and finally the Day the Earth Froze.

To be quite honest, I can't decide. This is probably my favorite 'series' they did, and I love all four of these movies/episodes.

Jack Frost easily number one. Sword and the Dragon gets number two but I have only seen Day the Earth Froze once (I owe it now but haven't had time to re-watch it.) Magic Voyage of Sinbad is definitely my least favorite being that I fell asleep both times that I tried to re-watch it. That said, I am sure to enjoy the episode some day in the future.
