Lets face it each season has that standout and for 10 it is this. the shakespeare subgenre is wholly composed of this and it seemed like more should have been done of this. If there were some way to have them still riff shakespeare movies... anyway hats off to Jackson Brown-let aka Hamletman aka RIblet and all his friends, Moe, Larry, & Horatio, Cold Water on the Groin, King Vitaman, Danish Lesbian Clowns, and Rothelyn Russel!

M'eh, I dunno... I tried really hard to give it a chance to grow on me, but I couldn't quite get into it. The riffing was fine, as usual, but I think that dark, gray, grim German Expressionist production style had something to do with it being such rough going -- though I've got to admit I rather enjoyed hearing the dialogue in a Shakespeare masterwork being riffed on by Mike'n'the Bots. Actually, I have to confess here that MST3K's presentation in Season 10 was the first time I'd ever seen any production of Hamlet. Sad, but true. If you ask me, the real crown jewel of Season 10 was Horrors Of Spider Island (it bumped out Hamlet for a spot in my regular rotation), followed closely by Girl In Gold Boots.

I think Hamlet is alright. The movie is incredibly grim and uninteresting, but the riffing is fine. There are some spots with dead air, and that's pretty bad, but overall I don't think the episode deserves the reputation it has.
(Side note: Is it just me or is theater segment 2 in this episode really short? It's only around 12 minutes.)

I don't have a real problem with Hamlet but from what's been posted on this board over the years I'd say it is one of the least popular episodes. Many hate it. I have seen a few people claim it among their favorites but not many. When I first saw this thread wind demon I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic.

i am one of those that claim hamlet as their favorite. it's my #1. the host segs were so-so (though i loved the hamlet "action" figure), but the riffing was some of their best, imo. i never tire of it.
oh, baby - juicy got me crazy!

I like the episode but there are many season ten episodes I like better and hate more. The most amazing thing is how many of the movie adaptations are just terrible compared to reading the play.

Yes Phantom i do think so. Also the main guy, he was very good compared to other Hamlets.

I'd pay a lot of cash money to see a full-length Rifftrax of Kenneth Branagh's overblown, ludicrous film adaptation of Hamlet from the '90s. It's so bad, but an invaluable experiment in the theory of the cinema because it shows that you can preserve every single word of a written work in adapting it to the screen, not cutting or altering a single line, and still make a complete hash of it.

This thread might inspire me to give it anothr shot. Actually, I rather liked the quiz show based on Hamlet's speech to the gravedigger ("Alas, poor Urick...")

I've said it before, I'd much rather watch Hamlet than The Final Sacrifice. Not even close.

But did it kill the rightful king and take the crown jewel for its own?

I haven't seen Branagh's version of Hamlet, but I rather liked his version of Much Ado About Nothing. Everybody in it was good enough that I could ignore Keanu Reeves.

I personally didn't think Hamlet was too great an episode, but not a terrible one either.
And I'm guessing that wind demon just got banned? Too bad, though his recent posts did seem a bit "trollish".
